I'm having mine at 230 today. She said since I was less than 20 weeks I have to have a full bladder. After 20 weeks, no. But that's my office, yours might be different.
Yes, it helps to check out your kidneys and ovaries. Once the tech checked those, she had me go to the bathroom (and thank God, because I thought I would pee myself).

Oh this is good news. I hope this happens for me too! I just cannot imagine holding it for that long!!
I was told to drink 24 oz of water an hour before. They did most of the ultrasound, then had me go to the restroom so we could get the baby moving to finish up.
I've never had to have a full bladder....they always make sure it's empty when I go, thank goodness! I think I would die if I had to have a full one lol
I was not told anything, and have been told to empty my bladder at all previous ultrasounds. I have seen multiple posts about ladies being told to have a full bladder.
Was trying to decide if I should go with a full bladder just in case or not put myself through that agony since I wasn't told to beforehand.
I would go with a full bladder, just to be safe. I was supposed to have one, but since our big u/s was first thing in the morning, I just couldn't get enough fluids in me fast enough so my bladder was pretty empty. Oops!! It made it harder for the tech to get the measurements she needed.

Mine is scheduled for 20w1d and they told me to drink 32oz an hour before. They told me the same thing for my 12w u/s and I didn't drink that much. I said something to the tech and she told me that I had plenty. She said it's hard to find your ovaries once your uterus starts growing regardless.
Re: For your BIG u/s
ditto! She said there was no need for me to be uncomfortable while she is pushing down on my belly!

Same here, the sonographer told me to go empty it.

This!
I was told to drink 16 oz of clear liquid 90 minutes before my U/S.
