Infertility

Thinking about starting a blog...

So, I wanted thoughts/ opinions.  I know I will start a family blog as soon as we get pregnant and are comfortable sharing the news with everyone.  But, lately I have felt like I want to start an IF blog, anonymously, just to document my journey.

So, what do you lovely ladies think?

Re: Thinking about starting a blog...

  • I think its a great idea.  I started one and it has been a huge release for me.  I let out all my frustrations and feel so much better after I do!

  • I find reading other's blogs very helpful, so I started one when I set up my first RE appointment.  It is wonderful to put thoughts/vents out there that I might not want to make an actual post about.

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929

  • Seems like a lot of people find it very theraputic!  I think that if i started one, I would want to keep it away from even my DH so that I could feel free to vent about whatever struck me....
  • Do it!  I think it's a good idea...i have one that is totally private just so i can document everything from our cycles and so i have a place to put my thoughts down.  My dh has access to it, but i dont think he's ever read it.  I keep it pretty anonymous and will probably make it public one day.  It's been good for me.
  • I've kept a blog for several years just to document my life at different stages. Right now it's very IF oriented. But a year ago it was mostly about our house and fixing it up. Before then it was about grad school. Anyways, I really love keeping it for myself. It's interesting to see how much life changes over the years!

Your blog doesn't have to be JUST IF. It can be anything you want it to be and it can grow and evolve with you.

  • Ditto!  I started one a few weeks ago and it's amazing how much better I feel after I get all my thoughts out.  I call it my online therapy.

  • I think it's a great idea, and if you're feeling like you want to I think it means you should! :)

If you do, make sure you check out www.stirrupqueens.blogspot.com (if you haven't already). She's kind of the hub for IF blogs, keeps a giant blogroll, and hosts a lot of "community building" activites for IF bloggers.

Let us know if you start one!

  • That's what I did. You can make it annonymous (in my situation, DH didn't want our close friends and family to know what was going on, but I knew I needed to talk about it somehow). It's helped me a lot. Great idea.
