DH and I went to pick up an Ergo carrier yesterday and got the infant insert and everything - and the outside of the box said newborn - whatever weight. But when I read the instructions, it said it was "ideal" for infants 7lbs. and up.
I haven't tried to put one of my babies in it yet since I was home alone much of the evening and I definitely want a spotter handy, but will this work for my smaller 5lb babies?
Thanks!
Re: smaller baby in the ergo?
I wouldn't do it for a smaller baby. I didn't start using my Ergo until my kid was about 3 months. Until then, I used a carrier that carried her closer and in a womb-like position. We used a My Baby Nest, but others used a Moby wrap. I just like having more control over how close she was to me, which is harder, IMO, in an Ergo.
That being said, I love my Ergo.
