2nd Trimester

? for home doppler users

ok so this might be really dumb but im curious.

the last week or so since ive gotten my new doppler ive noticed that after i find where babys heartbeat is the strongest if i move to the opposite side of my belly there seems to be another hb?  baby is still staying aroun 140-150 and then im seeming to find a second hb around 120...??  i havent had an ultrasound but surely by 18 weeks i would know if it were twins right???

Re: ? for home doppler users

  • the second HB is most likely your own. If you move it over the the exact spot on the right side you should get about the same reading.

  • it could be yours (although 120 is a bit fast:) ) or it could be the placenta (and your doppler is missing some beats).  The placenta sounds more like wooshing than galloping if that helps...

  • They do say you might be able to hear the heartbeat in mulitple locations...so I would imagine that is what is happening.  And since you are further away in one area, you aren't getting it as clearly (hence the slower numbers).
  • I GET THAT!!!!  Except the 2nd one is always around 201.  Not sure what it is though.

Mine is the same way.  I get a reading of 120 on my right & left side kinda low, about where my falopian tubes are (just using that as a ref. point) I know for sure we aren't having twins.  I've had 3 u/s.  Hope that helps.
