Re: POLL: Swine Flu Shot

  • I am undecided about this.. I chose no but I may if my dr/midwife strongly recommended it.. and I would only get it from OBGYN. I work in the office I get my prenatal care and I have direct patient contact sometimes so that is the only reason I may get it if I was asked by the dr.

  • Due in large part to the fact that it is so new I just don't feel that they have had adequate time to test it.  I am not willing to be a test subject and at this point I think I will be fine.  Besides that, there have been no cases of the H1N1 virus within a 100 mile radius of where I live so I am really not that worried.
  • Undecided. I will be getting the standard flu shot but will discuss the H1N1 shot with my OB. Not sure if he will be recommending it. My DSs pedi doesn't think at this point that she will be recommending it for her patients and wont have it availible in her office.

  • Haven't discussed either flu shots with my OB so I'm undecided right now. Just going to wait and see what they say about it.
  • I just talked with my OB Friday about this and she is HIGHLY recommending it because there have been confirmed cases in our area. and LO will be born in the middle of flu season so that is one the the best ways to protect us both. She also wants DD and DH to get it to because on me being preggo and LO being born this winter and not able to get the vaccine.
  • My OB's felt very strongly that I should get the vaccine.  I trust him and I live in an area which has topped the lists for number confirmed cases.

  • I don't plan to get the vaccine.  It's just too new for me to be willing to take a chance with it.  It has not been studied.  There has been confirmed cases in my area - but I will just try to be careful (like I do every year anyway - I have NEVER gotten the common flu before either btw)

  • My OB is recommending it. She said something about H1N1 being able to infect the baby as well. I need to research it more- she won't have the shot until Oct so I still have time.
  • My OB is recommending it so I plan on it.  I've never had a flu shot before but I think this year is important.  I work for the school district and one of the ladies here has a grandson that she cares for who had it last week.  Now she's at work hacking up a lung.  I'm being very cautious but it makes me wish that I was already protected.
  • I am getting it because 1) my OB recommended it, 2) my sister (who is a DR) recommended it and 3) any risks associated with it pale in comparison to the risks of getting H1N1 while pregnant.
