Home daycare to a centre...

how did the transition got for your DC?  My kids had their last day today at their home daycare, they start at the centre on Tuesday, we will do a morning visit on Monday.  They usually adapt very well, like last week they had to stay with a back up daycare, they met her for 30 minutes on the Sunday and we dropped them off on Monday no tears or anything, they slept and ate fine all week.  The big thing is it's  afrench daycare centre and they are used to an english environment, I'm nervous!!

  • It was a little rough for my kids, I won't lie.  DS had been with just one caregiver for almost 3  years and DD for 1.  The first week they were weepy and it took a full 8 weeks for them to be completely transitioned.  But, they've been there over a year now and they love it so it was a good move for us.

  • I moved DS when he was 8 months old - he didn't want to drink milk for 2 days but other than that he adjusted fine.

  • Just transitioned DS from the in-home provider he has been with since he was 14 weeks to a day care center.  He did great, but at age 4 we were able to tell him that it was his new "school" and he loves it.  We start DD at the same center next week after being with the same in-home provider since she was 11 weeks (now 18 months).  We'll see how she does.  I think she'll do okay, but being apart from her brother will be an adjustment. Let me know how it goes!
