Boy name help

I think choosing a name for your child is such a personal choice, I always thought it was odd that people would seek out the opinions of total strangers.  But here I go!

We're having a boy and have a bunch of names in mind, all over the place in style/popularity. Seeking some outside opinions on our ideas, as we keep going back and forth.

MN will be my last name, which is Irish starts with C ends in -ey.  Last name is Italian starts with S ends in -one (sounds like ohnee).

I'd prefer a name that is not overly common/popular, DH doesn't really care about that.  I just don't want one of those names where in a few years it seems like there are a million popping up (Aiden, Jacob, Owen, Jack, etc).

Desmond, Casey, Sam, Cameron, Miles, Xavier, Taylor, Henry, Calvin

  • I think Miles is adorable!

    DS #1- Ares Christopher

    DS #2- Taj Lee

    DD #1 Alba Gray

    Baby #4- coming in May

  • I like all of them except Taylor and Henry.
  • I'm clearly partial to Miles, but am going to pick Sam because it's my second favorite and I can't recommend someone using "our" name. LOL...it seems to have shot up in popularity this year.
  • Henry is my favorite of those names.....picking a boy name is sooo hard.....I am clueless right now and feel that NO name is perfect.....

  • Henry is our boy name, so Yes for that.

Other than that, I like Calvin and Miles.  The others are NMS.

  • I like Casey. Taylor is popular I think. Miles is ok but how about Milo? I love that one.
  • I like Calvin (#1) and Xavier. I know about 3-4 Sams, a couple Miles', some girls named Taylor and about 3 Henrys all born within the last 5 years. I'm so paranoid about my baby names, I won't even TELL anyone, for fear they'll spread the word and everyone will take my names (I'm quite aware I'm a totally freak).

  • With your last name, I would avoid names that end in "ee" sound, like Casey and Henry. I do love the name Henry, though (but you may hear it a lot soon).

Of your other choices, I like Desmond, Miles and Xavier. Taylor to me has become a girl's name, and Calvin is an OK name but I don't like the meaning (bald).

  • Xavier is my favorite, that's what we're naming our little boy!
  • We're likely naming DS Cameron so it is my favorite by far!

LOVE Milo.  DH didn't like it.  But he was open to the idea of using Milo as a sort of nickname for Miles.

Boy names seem so much harder than girl names!  We already had a bunch of girl names that we loved.  But most of our boy names we just kinda so-so on.

    Thanks for the input, everyone.
