Kirby Vacuums...

Has anyone else ever been suckered into buying one? Do you like them still???

The salesman just left, and he left the vacuum too because I bought it. Now i'm staring at it thinking...omg I just paid how much on that?!?

It was pretty shocking seeing what it picked up after I had just vacuumed with mine. Kinda gross.

  • When DH and I were 18 and 19 and got our first place, a Kirby salesman came over and talked us into buying one. We were broke teenagers and thrilled with our grownup purchase. The next day the salesman's boss came and repossed the vac saying we did not qualify to buy one. We thought that was hilarious!
  • Mine is 10 years old and still sucks like a pro! ;o)

It's so freakin' fantastic!  I will NEVER buy another brand of vacuum.  And, if you figure the $550 we spent over the 10 years we've gotten out of it, not a bad investment.  The thing is like an Army Tank!!

  • When my hubby and I were living in Washington, the Kirby people came by and did a demonstration at our apartment and I wanted one SO BAD!  My husband is kind of clueless about things like that, but even he thought it was the best thing he had ever seen!  Sadly, we were about to move and could not afford it at the time, but I think if we ever got the chance to purchase one again that we would.

I think it's a great investment to make when you have children and especially pets too.  I was just amazed at all of the junk it picked up!  Who knew all of those gross things lurk in our carpets and furniture?

  • I bought one about 10 years ago and it's still going strong.  (When I got it, I lived in a ranch...and my only complaint now that I have 3 floors with carpet is that I HATE carrying it on the stairs.)

  • I haven't heard/thought about of those in 15+years - my college boyfriend used to sell those !  Excellent vacumes for sure.

  • My brother and his girlfriend was suckered into buying a Kirby.  I got suckered into buying a Rainbow.  I LOVE it!  Most people don't like the whole water thing,  but I like the fact that you can use it as humidifier and has a carpet shampooer attachment.

Kirby also has a shampooer attachment as well as a billion other attachments including a sander! Yeah... I ended up buying one in college from my best friend. I ended up being one of his only actual sales. My family had one when I was a kid that my grandfather had purchased when my dad was a teen. It lasted until I was about 16. They are pretty awesome.

  • I have never owned one, but I thought about being a salesman years ago. I remember when I was doing the 2 day class, the teacher did a demonstration and all the stuff he pulled out of a mattress. It blew my mind. I still think of the all the crap that is inside my bed.
  • seanandcallie, a sander!  That's pretty awesome!  The rainbow doesn't compare.  ;-)
