Team Green Baby Showers...

Alright girls.  A friend of mine and I were talking and she said she was going to wait to find out what they were having but then she found out that she was having 3 baby showers and wanted to get things that she could use.  Those of you not finding out, what are you going to do about baby showers?

Re: Team Green Baby Showers...

  • I didn't find out with ds and I had two showers.  I registered for gender neutral things (like the high chair, car seat, bouncy, etc), I also registered for the essentials in neutral tones (like lap pads, burp cloths, onsies, towels, washcloths).  Any clothes I got were also gender neutral.  It's not as hard as one might think ;)

  • Just registering for gender neutral stuff!  I am not putting any clothes on the registry because we need necessaties like car seats, stroller, etc (plus I have boght enough clothes already).  If you register for clothes, I would just register for either newborn or 0-3 months in gender neutral colors.  After that you can buy either girl/boy clothes.

As far as bedding/nursery decor, we would not be doing the room pink or blue anyways so it isn't an issue.

Diapers, bath tubs, pacifiers, etc should work for either a girl or a boy

  • I'm having one shower and am going to register for the things I need (I'm a first time mom and have NOTHING). Like PP said, I also would not have a pink or blue room, no matter the gender, so I will register for some essential gender neutral clothing items and assume I'll get some gift cards to go back and get girl or boy specific clothes once baby is over 6 mos.

We've already found some really cute gender neutral patterns for things like the PNP and carseat and bouncer and high chair. It's turning out to be easier than I thought!

  • Ditto to these. As far as the shower goes, I'm going with a gender neutral theme - A Bun in the Oven. No pinks or blues for me.
  • Sweet.  That's what I was thinking in my head.  But I thought I would ask! :)  I just don't want to give up the surprise at the end! It's going to be so exciting!

  • By not finding out what you are having, you will probably get more things that you need.  If people know what you are having, they end up buying a lot of clothes.  (Not that anyone isn't greatful, but it is nice to get the other bigger items that you need 1st.  (I had a lot of people go together on our bigger items, so it wasn't as if any one person had to buy 150 + gift... )

  • With DD we were on team green and it was awesome.  I registered for gender neutral items, no clothes and I got almost every single thing we needed rather than 15,000 pink or blue outfits.  If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't change a thing!!!

  • I know what I'm having but only registered for gender neutral stuff anyway. I'm going to use it all again when I'm PG again, so I wanted it to be neutral. A word of caution though, just because you don't know the gender doesn't mean you will only get things your registered for or things you need. I know someone on team green and they got a bunch of receiving blankets and gender neutral clothes.

  • I've had three showers & *almost* everyone shopped off my registries which was fabulous! We registered for gender neutral items, like everyone else mentioned. The gifts I've seen given at gender specific showers for others are almost always clothes. It seems as though people are less likely to shop off registries if they know the baby is a boy or girl.
