It never ends in a an old house...freak out over mold in the basement

We had a wet wall in the laundry/boiler room so we diverted the dehumidifier in there to get the must out after the contracter sealed the wall.  Well, today DH discovered that there is now mold in another part of the basement where the dehumidifier used to be.  I had a freak out and made him remove everything from that room and throw it out.  He is now down there scrubbing everything with bleach cleaner until the contractor can get in to inspect.  He wasn't going to do it and until I explained that mold can cause fetal development issues.  I think I owe him a back rub......

    That sucks!  We have mold in our cold room - we are having someone come in to look at it this week - I have been banned from going in there until it is cleaned up!  DH wanted to scrub it with bleach as well but we don't want to take the risk.  Also there is a chance that the old owners of the house could be responsible for the clean-up due to the fact that we specifically asked them about the dampness in the coldroom and they told us that it was because the very heavy rains the night before came in throught the vent and it had never happened before but we figured out that the water is coming in through the crack in the porch (there is never water on the side with the vent).
