Has DC ever been blotchy with a fever?

I came home from work early on Friday because Ethan had a 103 fever.  He still has it but has been under control between Tylenol and Motrin.  Now, after naptime, Brooke has been feverish.  I gave her Tylenol and Motrin too since and her face is now blotchy like she's having an allergic reaction.  I really don't think she's allergic to the T or M.  I suppose it's possible but for some reason I don't think so.

I know there's something going around, I'm actually not feeling so hot myself right now, so I guess the three of us will be paying a visit to the doctor in the morning.

Just curious if any of your kids got blotchy with a fever...

  • Yes! I posted yesterday about my youngest DS and a pretty severe reaction to something - prob. an antibiotic. He had a temp of 103 on Thursday.

  • We haven't been to the doc yet so no antibiotics at this point.  We're going to go tomorrow.  I do know Brooke is allergic to Omnicef but that just causes an extreme wakeful reaction on her.  I gave her a little bit of Benadryl hoping that the blotchy will go away.  After I posted this though, I remembered that each summer in the beginning, both the kids get rashy from sunscreen and I haven't had any on them in a while but they did get some on today.  My neighbor was over and she put it on her kid and hit mine with it too.  But the "sunscreen rash" looks different this time.
  • Look up fifth's disease (it's not really a disease.)  It sort of sounds like it and there may be pictures.
  • It is very common for a a viral infection to cause fever and rash.  Look up viral exanthem.
