I've been trying to change our daily routine for DS. His nap schedule is unpredictable, plus he is waking up 1-2 times a night to eat and sometimes a 3rd time just fussing. Its been driving me crazy!! Here is what our routine is now:
630am: Wake-up and nurse, then play
830am: Nap
10:30am - Wake-up, Nurse, Bathtime, play
1pm: Nap
3pm: Wake up and nurse, play
5pm: Nap
6pm: Wake up and nurse
7pm: Dinner (solids)
7:30 or 8: Bed
Midnightish - Wake up to nurse
4amish: Wake up to nurse (sometimes he skips this feeding)
I want to change a few things - move bath time to after dinner, add in breakfast (solids) and nurse last thing before bed. I hope this will help him sleep a little better at night. What was your LO's schedule at 6months? What would you recommend I change?
Re: Help me change our routine!
Around 6 months he dropped the 3rd nap & started going to bed really early. Our schedule was something like this:
7:30am - wake-up & nurse, play a little
8:00am - breakfast
9:00am - nap #1
11:00am - wake-up & nurse, play & run errands
(when we started lunch around 6.5 months, it was around 12-12:30)
1:00pm - nap
3:00pm - wake-up & nurse, play
5:00pm - dinner
5:30pm - bath & get ready for bed
6:00 - nurse & bedtime (sometimes as early as 5:30! but it was winter & dark)
J still is usually in bed between 6:30 - 7:00. He just can't handle staying up later than that most of the time.
Good luck - changing routine can be frustrating for a little while, but he'll get used to the change pretty quickly.
Wow, it's already so hard to remember what Liam's schedule was at 6 months! He was a 30 minute cat napper though, so I think he was still taking 4 cat naps at that time.
I think by 6 months Liam was starting to stay awake for 3 hours or so after his last nap before bedtime. You might try having him awake a little longer before bedtime? We do dinner about 5:45, then we would start bath time a little after 7, then bedtime bottle/nurse, bedtime story and bed by 7:30.
Here is Holly's schedule for the days she's home with me:
6:30--wake up and have bottle, usually gets in bed with us until about 7:15 (I will miss this so much when I go back to work!
)
7:30-9:30ish--play
9:30--bottle then nap
10:30--wake up, play
11:15ish--lunch (solids--usually oatmeal & a fruit or veggie)
11:30-1:30 or 2--play
2:00ish--bottle then nap
4:00-4:30--wake up and play
5:15--dinner (solids: "entree," fruit, and veggie)
5:30-6:00--sits at highchair and eats puffs, cheerios, etc while we eat dinner
7:45--bath, then bottle
8:00--bedtime
Unless she's sick or something, she won't wake up again until 6:30
GL!
I am not going to put times because this varies day to day, although about 5:30/6:00pm it goes pretty much at the same time. Her nursing schedule is every 3 hours, unless she's starving and then about 2.5.
We do the nurse, play, nap, nurse play, nap routine. Right now we are doing 1 feeding in the evening, so we do that schedule throughout the day, and usually between 4pm and 5pm she will nurse. Then about 1 hour later, I feed her oatmeal. Then it's bath time and then I feed her again and it's bedtime.
She is usually waking up once per night, any time between 2am and 5:30am! I feed her, but that does not affect the routine during the day at all.
When I add breakfast, I will do the morning feeding when she wakes up, then do breakfast, then play, nap, and nurse.
Good luck!
I'm having a hard time remember too.
I now at 6 mo. she was starting her bedtime routine at 6:30, in bed by 7. She had dinner at 5 p.m. of solids and I nursed her right before bed.
She took 3 naps a day. Got up at around 6-6:30 a.m. and went down for her 1st nap around 8-8:30 a.m. Her last nap was around 3-4 p.m. She was eating solids 3 times a day, about 45 min to an hour after nursing. I nursed her at least 4 times during the day at that point.
We ended up doing CIO at 5.5 mo. -- she immediately dropped both her night feedings on her own when we did CIO, I didn't have to do any night weaning. She obviously didn't still need to nurse at night but it had become habit for both of us.
