Hi,
I have been lurking for a few months and I feel like I am at the point where I need to interact with people who understand what I am going through. My husband and I have been trying since June 08. In May of this year I changed OB-GYNs because I felt I was more informed than my Dr. I really like my new Dr. So far my husband has had 2 SA and everything looked good. I had a FSH and a progesterone test and all was good. I had an HSG and the right tube looked fine but the results for the left tube where inconclusive. So my Dr. scheduled a lap. My Dr. told me the worst case she would remove the left tube if it was damaged and she would also take a look at the fibroid that was found by my other DR. Then she said I would be able to start Clomid next week. So I had my surgery yesterday. I asked my husband what she found and he said that the left tube was definitely blocked and she found some additional fibroids but she didn't remove anything. She did say my right tube was healthy.
So now I am really upset because I waited 3 months for this surgery and I thought some progress would be gained. I just don't see the point of prescribing Clomid now. Has anyone had any experience? Is it possible for her to still give me Clomid? Does this mean I will have another surgery? Will she tell me to go straight to IVF?
Thanks for listening. I am so scared. I was so excited about this surgery because I thought this was going to be the beginning of our journey but it has just left me more confused and feeling hopeless.
Re: Introduction and a Few Questions
I just wanted to pop in and say welcome to the board. Hopefully you will get your BFP soon. Good Luck!
I wish I had some info to share with you but I have no experience were your particular situation. Hopefully your doc will have a good reason for the choices she made.
Good Luck!

Hi there and Welcome!
Do you know if she was able to unblock the tube? You can do Clomid and it will cause more eggs to ovulate so that there are more targets. Have you considered doing an IUI?
Good luck!
Married and it feels so good!
Welcome, although I am sorry you have to be here!
Will you be meeting with your doctor to go over the surgery/ results?? I am a little confused about the choices she made, but I am no doctor so hopefully she has a good explanation.
Do you know what type of fibroids you have? They often leave them there unless they are sub-mucosal, which protrude into the uterus and can effect embryo implantation. If you did have this kind I would wonder why she didn't remove them while she was in there.
I don't know much about blocked tubes, but I have read about doctors attempting to unblock a tube during surgery. Did she attempt to do this?
In terms of starting clomid, it could be ok still. If the fibroids are not the in the uterus kind they won't effect anything, and you could still ovulate on the unblocked side. Good luck and I hope you get some answers ASAP!

Thanks so much for your warm welcome. Now all that I know is what my husband has told me. LOL He may have missed the big info. As far as I know she didn't unblock anything or remove anything but she took a lot of pictures. I guess I just need to be patient and thankful that my post-op appointment is tomorrow.
The original plan was to start Clomid and maybe on the 4th cycle try IUI's. I am crossing my fingers I can still start Clomid this cycle.
