High-Risk Pregnancy

Not feeling satisfied... (GD related)

Don't get me wrong - I am full after each snack and meal... but I am just not feeling satisfied with my meal choices and selections.  Anyone run into this issue?  How are you getting over it?

ex: PB&sugarfreeJ on whole wheat for breakfast when I all I really wanted was McDonalds hotcakes.

  • Yea I get that with breakfast usually.  You have to figure out what will work for you and how to substitute.  

    Like when I am dying for pancakes, I make a batch of Aunt Jemima (or whatever brand it is) and limit myself to 4 small pancakes with SF syrup, and a scrambled egg.  That usually satisfies my pancake craving (and I put the rest in the refrigerator or freezer for another time.)  Yesterday I was DYING for chocolate chip pancakes- so I threw some chips in the batter and went to town.  From eating that, eggs and some Crystal Lite lemonade, I was pretty satisfied.

    But now all this talk of food has me hungry again lol.... UGH!!!

  • I try to find ways of eating some of my favorites but have to sacrifice some of the taste.  I absolutely love breakfast tacos.  Unfortunately the tortillas were too much for me, so I found some really cool Jimmy Dean breakfast bowls with turkey sausage, egg, cheese and potato (everything I would put on my breakfast tacos).  The bowl by itself is good enough so I don't feel bad about not having my tacos.  I also love waffles.  I found some SF maple syrup and I add peanut butter.  Yummy!  I also love cereal.  So, I add 1 scrambled egg with cheese to my bowl of cereal and I'm good to go.  Chocolate pudding cups usually cover my chocolate cravings.  My sweets craving is also covered with the Breyers Carb Smart Ice cream and sometime I add a little peanut butter to make it even better.  I can have a cheese burger for dinner and substitute the fries for a side salad.  Overall, I think I'm doing pretty good.  I've found ways around most of my biggest cravings.  The only thing that I would absolutely love that I can't have is my chocolate chip cookie dough cheesecake from Cheesecake Factory.  That will be one of the first thigns I have after Katelyn comes :lol:

    Keep searching!  Hopefully you will find some more goodies that you can eat and will make you feel better.  I found some pretty good recipes for GD goodies online.

  • I'll let everyone else give you great suggestions for "satisfying" your cravings for yummy food.  I'm just gonna join in on the pity party.

    GD food sucks.  I want french fries and ice cream and pancakes with regular syrup.  And I don't want some piddly small-ass portion.

    I'm in a really bad place right now with food.

    this... I was all excited to be pregnant and not feel guilty about occasional splurges on cravings...  damn.

  • oh man i am so there with you!!!!  seriously, all i want is a big bowl of potato soup and corn bread... or a huge bowl of mac n cheese... or a big fat cinnamon roll.  :-( 

     

    thankfully only 2 more weeks bc my cravings for carbs are getting BAD.

  • Next time try making french toast with your low carb wheat toast and sugar free syrup. Its delicious and a good way to get your eggs in as your protein.
