Sorry for all the dumb bumper questions today, but we got one as a part of our bedding set and I put it on the crib. It seems fine to me, I haven't really heard the argument that is anti-bumper, I just know a lot of bumpies on here are very anti-bumper.
To me it almost seems safer, because if baby rolls into it, they don't hit themselves against the railing they hit themselves against something soft.
But maybe I'm wrong. Please give me your opinion on bumpers
Re: what is wrong with bumpers?
Yep, and they can decrease airflow, which is linked to SIDS. I think they are attractive, so we have them in there. He won't be sleeping in his crib for awhile, so they are just decorative for now. I may be taking them out once he starts to sleep in there.
We're also using a breathable bumper. Not as cute, but safer:

Much safer NOT having a bumper than having one. Infants cannot bang themselve hard enough on the sides of a crib to really injure themselve, but they can die from suffocated on a bumper, sleep positioner, stuffed animals, etc. that are in the crib. If you must have a bumper, breathable is best:)
I was so-so on the bumper (got one with my nursery "set") until I tried to change out the sheet. I had to REMOVE the bumper in order to change the sheet. SO NOT HAPPENING. So I took it out...
