should I get rid of DS's baby clothes??

DS is three and I've given the bulk of his clothes to my SIL but have kept a lot of the really nice stuff.  We are not planning on having any more kids.  DS's new school has a big consignment sale next weekend and I could potentially make a hundred or so bucks with all the winter stuff I have.  I wouldn't be getting rid of everything but most of it...I feel sick to my stomach at the thought of it.  I just went thru everything and I have a ton of really nice stuff...most of it more expensive like Janie and Jack, Kissy Kissy, Ralph Lauren, Patagonia, LL Bean...

Am I going to regret it if I only keep a couple things?  I mean in reality what am I saving it for? Yeah I love the stuff I've kept, but is my future grandson really going to wear his little button down shirts and fleeces?

Also, anything that doesn't sell I can get back and keep or give to my SIL

Please advise!! Thanks

  • If we were 100% certain we were done having kids I would get rid of the bulk of it.  Then again, I hate clutter and hate saving stuff though, so that's just me.

  • I vote for a big purge!  Save the special pieces (which for me are the Kissy Kissy gowns that they wore as NB and pieces they wore for portraits)...the rest can go!

  • I am getting rid of all of DD's and keeping a few special things.  I think my emotional attachment to her clothes made hearing that this baby is a boy harder...

Honestly I wouldn't have used many of the clothes from the 70's that my mom had for me unless they were real special...so that's why I am getting rid of most of them.

  • I have received hand-me-downs from my mom that she kept of ours and I love wearing them on my DD.  For ex-she saved a shirt that was my cousin's (now in her 30's)  to me that is more special then getting new outfits for DD.  But I am also sentimental about things like that.
  • I would save a few special pieces (we are having some made into a quilt) and get rid of the rest.  I'm also saving a couple that won't be made into the quilt.  Carter's coming home outfit was actually one that was from when DH was a baby.

I agree with this.  We have 4 huge bags of DS's clothing sitting in the basement and I'm just waiting for a consignment sale to happen so I can get rid of all of it.
