We haven't moved DD to her crib in her nursery yet--she is still in the PNP in our bedroom. Her nursery is REALLY bright--not only from the sun coming through the window but also we painted the room very yellow (not very smart of me to choose that color but I wasn't thinking)...we have the white wood blinds right now but they don't do much to block out the sun. Did anyone use the room-darkening shades and where did you buy them? Do they work?
Another note: our bedroom is about as dark as her nursery is bright so I think it will definitely be an adjustment for her...
Re: Room darkening shades?
We have blinds plus we have curtains we got from Walmart called Eclipse curtains meant to keep most of the light out (I think it says 99%). We had to have them hemmed though because they hit the floor.
The blinds just weren't enough.
We got awesome room darkening cellular shades at Lowe's... All of the windows in our house are custom (so annoying!) so we had to get special sizes, and everywhere we looked they were SO expensive.
They are cut to order at the store, and the price was so much better then custom cut ones everywhere we looked. The quality is great, and the shades block out everything! They come in two colors, white and a sand type of color.
I think we paid around $70 for a pretty big window. They were very easy to hang as well!!
Here is one size of them:
