Sibling Gifts

I know it is early to think about this, but it popped into my head so I thought I would ask. Is anyone considering sibling gifts from the baby once it is born?

I have two 13-year-old stepdaughters. I would like to have their new baby sister give them a gift, but I am stuck as to what. They are too old for "Big Sister" shirts and stuffed animals don't hold the same appeal. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

Re: Sibling Gifts

  • Hard to give advice without knowing what your 13-year-olds are into! Sorry I'm not more help (this is my first LO)- I think this is a great idea though!

  • Charm bracelets? Girly but not little-kiddish.
  • I would think about doing some small gift basket type thing with some of their favorite things in them (and a keepsake stuffed animal of sorts)....That way you can personalize the items in the basket, fav scented soaps/lotions/lip gloss, a cd they want, a game they like, a fav childhood book with something written inside like "I've been told this was your favorite and maybe someday you could read it to me.  Love your little Brother/Sister"
  • I love the bracelet idea... also an awesome necklace with all 3 of their first initials on it, and get one for the new LO...

You could incorporate some creativity in a shirt thing... get some Old Navy tanks and some iron-on rhinestones and make Big Sister shirts & a Little Sister onesie... they might dig that...

  • I like that bracelet idea!  They have bracelets that are links out there that you can remove/replace one link at a time and many places engrave links so you could put their name on it and a "Big Sister" link.  I have one and have links from places we have gone to (Disneyland, Sea World, etc) along with a link for My Soldier (hubby) and will be getting one for my baby girl on there later...

  • Yeah, there are lots of different styles of charm bracelets. The one the pp linked and also this style. (You just clip them onto the link)

  • You all are the best! Thanks so much for helping. This is why I love this board.
  • We plan on giving DD whos 9 something that she can do or play with when she is at the hospital, so she will be entertained, not just bored when they visit me and the baby.  Maybe a new DS game.  Sh was 6 when we had DS and we gave her one of those tomigachi (sp) things and that kept her occupied while visiting at the hospital.
