2nd Trimester

Just p!ssed DH off...

... oh well!  He deserves it!  Reality check, buddy!  We adopted a 3 month old chihuahua puppy in March - so, he's now 9 months old.  I'm the only one who's been working with him since DH hates the dog (even though we both agreed to adopt him).  He knows his commands, but chews on my shoes and has around 3 potty accidents a week.  He peed on my bed skirt, and DH threw it away without asking me - I would have washed it really well and put it back on the bed, because it's a layer of protection for the boxspring.  Well, today he peed on the boxspring because there's no bedskirt.  He says, "THAT'S IT WE'RE GETTING RID OF HIM THAT'S A $4,000 BED!"  And I say, "Hmmm... he's finally got your attention?  You wanna start helping me train him yet?"  DH growls and grumbles under his breath and slams the door.

I cannot be expected to work full time, go to school full time, cook, help keep the house clean and train a puppy all by myself.  Fvck him!  And, this isn't the first time I've mentioned to DH that I need his help with the puppy.  Good news, puppy's testicles are about done - appt on Monday to get them cut off.

Sorry, just needed to vent!

  • poor puppy, its not his fault, why did your DH want to adopt him in the first place,

  • WOW!! I'm sorry. I have a cat my DH can't stand but he even cleans the litter box now that I'm pregnant. You sound really busy, ever think about having him do something, like dinner, to give you more time? Now about the puppy if he agreed to adopt him he needs to help. I mean is he going to do this with the baby too?
  • Ah, that sucks so bad.

Sounds like the puppy is trying so hard to get your DH's attention, too. If he's really not interested in training him it might be in his best interest to find a new home. :( My FIL is refusing to train his huge irish setter, so I totally feel your pain. I'm trying to coax FIL into either training the dog or finding it a home where they will train him and pay the attention that the dog wants and needs. :( I'm not a fan of 'getting rid of' dogs, but pets deserve attention and love- hanging on to them when they could have a happier home is greedy, I think.

  • Wow. DH sounds like a douche.

  • I have an almost-2-year-old chihuahua. If you want any tips, PM me. I have learned plenty (much from what you are going through, unfortunately).?

If you have Animal Planet, keep an eye out for "It's Me or the Dog" with Victoria Stillwell. She is AWESOME and that is where I learned a lot of tips that actually worked.

    Good luck!?

  • good news is some of the accidents in the house might decrease after he is fixed!
  • I hope you get it all figured out!  Just know that getting the pup neutered is not a remedy for bad behavior.  I'm sure you know that, but I've gone through it with two boy dogs now and although I love them to pieces they are both still maniacs!  Your DH should be helping you train...especially when you're preggo!
