2nd pregnancy... did you register?

Work ladies are already asking me to "register" for this baby. I know it's a bit ghetto to do so. They are asking me to do it to make it easier on their shopping choices. WWYD? When would you register. I think it's a bit early yet. TIA!

Re: 2nd pregnancy... did you register?

  • nope..   the only thing I needed was boy clothing, a new sling, and a double stroller which I didn't buy until ds was 9m/o anyway.    Do you think they would put money together for a double???  I mean, I wouldn't be the one to suggest it...  but that would be a great way for them to help and gift something you need.

  • Nope.  I didn't register because I didn't have a shower.  I'm personally not one who believes in having 2nd baby showers.  Plus, having the kids so close together I really didn't need much right away except boy clothing and a double stroller.  Like the pp said, probably the best thing will be money or gift card to put towards something big you might need (crib, double stroller, etc.).
  • No...I didn't register either.  Our kids are only 2.5 years apart and we didn't really need anything except a few odd/ends that we bought ourselves.  Again, around here no one does a second shower unless there is quite an age gap between children (like 6+ years).

I don't think I can escape the 2nd shower, even if I wanted to. One of the docs had her 3rd baby and was like, "Please don't." They did anyway. It's fun for them to party for ANY reason LOL! As for the stroller... I never thought of that. We have 40 people, so it might be cheaper for them to split one gift rather than individual ones. I truly feel that if they get me nothing, I'm completely okay with that. Times are so tough right now. People are losing their homes left and right. It's so sad! And as you said, the things I really need are green/yellow clothes (we're not finding out... unless I cave at the ultrasound) and a new stroller. That's probably it. And we can cover those goodies. Kinda nice to say that:)

Just out of curiousity, which double do you have? Pros/cons? Our single is the Peg Perego Pliko P3 which I bought new for 1/2 price ($180) b/c it was "last year's color". Like it, but love my Mountain Buggy more. It's made better than any I've tried, but they are ridiculously priced. Anyhow, thanks for the reply:)

  • That's sweet they're so generous. In that case, you may just want to tell someone you're close to about a couple of things you're in need of so they know what to look for. I got the Joovy Caboose after reading lots of positive reviews on these boards, but I don't know that you're looking for a Sit and Stand type of stroller. DD loves the stroller since she can move around as she pleases, and it's really easy to maneuver.

  • Since they're asking, I'd probably do it. I personally have zero problems with 2nd showers - I think every baby deserves to be celebrated!

  • we have the Pliko P3 single too. I loved it.. until I got my P&T.. now I just use it for single or double.  love it.  I really think doubles depend on the use and person using them.  A friend has the mountain buggy single and double and would never own another brand.  My top three pics were the baby jogger city classic, the bumbleride indie twin and the P&T. when I tested them out side by side, I was sold on the P&T b/c it is so slim (I can get to the back of Gymboree... which I couldn't with my peg perego)... it's the size of a single.  But I liked all three.... they were my top picks after test driving what seemed like a million.  Joovy Caboose would not have been an option for me b/c my kids were 19m apart and my primary use for the stroller was walks or jogs.  (yes, I did run a 5K with my P&T)  really check out some of the video reviews online (you tube has a million)... narrow it down from there... then find them in store... they are too expensive to buy blindly. I love P&T... but my friend who owns her MB hated borrowing one from another friend.  I hated how huge the MB double was and the canopy.     One thing a fried did recommend... large inflatable tires for a double... it really does make a world of difference in maneuvering it.

  • I'm not registering for this one.  They're only 2 years apart and there are only a few things I need to replace besides getting girl clothes for baby 2 and they were all big things I wouldn't ask others to buy anyway, like new furniture.  Anybody that asks what to get us, I just tell them clothes.  I

  • we did but only b/c we were having a girl this time.  So many family and friends told us that they wanted to get the baby something but they didn't know what we needed so I felt more comfortable doing a registry that just blurting out what we wanted.  This way there was no obligation to get us anything but if they chose to do so then at least it was something that we needed for the baby.
  • I did but it really only had a new baby book/calendar, and diapers (so people knew what brand I preferred).  I was having a small 2nd shower.  Plus, I wanted the registry completion discount.

If you are having a shower and they are asking you to, I would do a small one.

  • we did today *just* because we got a $10 gift card. I'm not having a shower so there is really no need.

  • I did.

I'm not having, nor did I expect to have another shower - BUT - I did get a $10 g/c for registering and you get a 10% registry completion coupon 2 weeks before your due date.

I didn't even tell anyone that I registered again.

our family is the same way so I have had people begging me to get a registry up since like 8 weeks... i have but i also need quite a bit... (crib, dresser, stroller, pack n play, high chair, and some other random things... ) we had a few recalls..........i'd say if they are asking there isnt a big deal, also you get 10% off for it...
