Tell me more about IUI's....

So, what's the process?  They do use dad's sperm and mom's egg-yes?

The post below got me thinking.  I have my first appointment with the fertility specialist on Monday and I'll freak if this is what he wants to do right off the bat.  We're covered absolutely zero for this ride-every cent is out of pocket.

    Yes, IUI they have to use Mom's eggs, they can use H's sperm or donor sperm. 

    Don't freak out yet!!  Find out what the RE says.  Let him/her run all the necessary tests and get the results. 

    I am OOP for all of the IUI/meds/b/w/U/S--all of it.  The cost can vary from RE to RE.  My IUI is total cost (not including meds) of $2800.  However, I have seen some girls post on here that their RE's office IUI cost is as low as $600.

    DH's sperm is inserted into your uterus when you're ovulating. It's rarely the first course of action. Generally meds and timed intercourse are first unless there are known male factor issues.

    IUI was our first course of action, but in the realm of fertility treatments, they are fairly inexpensive. I would not get worked up over it until you have a plan of attack. IUIs are really not the end of the world! I have two babies from them!
