Infertility

First TTC consult with Dr. today :(

So I have several issues: fibroids requiring surgery, ovarian cysts, and irregular/missed periods.  Based on all of this, I went to my doctor today to see if there was anything I needed to do/know since we are TTC.  Whoa!  She wants to do all these tests to see if my follicles are working correctly, check my fibroids, possibly start Clomid etc.  I asked her if this was jumping the gun, and she said no, considering my history and age.  I was so hoping that we could just relax and let nature take it's course, but it doesn't look like we will be able to.  The good thing, though, is that DH is on board with all of this (I was worried he'd think it was all so...clinical), especially trying on days 10-20 like my doc recommended. :)

Re: First TTC consult with Dr. today :(

  • Sorry you're going through this.  The good news is that you have a proactive dr. that's willing to get you started on a plan and you have the support of your dh.  Best of luck in whatever you choose to do.

  • Thanks, kdodge.  I can always count on you to point out when my and others' doctors are off.  I asked her what the "typical" window for having sex was, and her answer was that she tells her patients days 10-20.  I think that was a good answer, especially since the tests haven't been done yet to individualize her answer based on the results.

Geez, as if TTC isn't hard enough without wanna-be MDs telling you every wrong thing you or your doctor does or says.

  • Kdodge, how about this attitude, exclusively for you: Don't "help" me.  At all.
  • My doctor is not steering me down a wrong path.  She simply gave me the best answer she could without me having any test results.  And i am not talking about people..I am talking about you specifically, and any other "knowledgeable" nestie who feels like that gives them license to be a raging b! tch when someone asks a "stupid" question that far better posters may be thinking but are too scared to get jumped on to ask.
