Ok, I know most people prefer the spelling Graham but that's not even my question...is it a dorky name? Both my dad and MIL have said they picture a super dorky kid...All the ones I have known have been really attractive and great athletes. We also love Liam but it is so popular right now.

I love it. One of my girl friends just named her son Graham.
I think it is super cute.

Fresh and sophisticated in an across-the-pond sort of way. Not dorky at all. I think we are getting into an age that it's getting more acceptable to use names like Oliver, Graham, Harrison, Tristan... things that might have seemed nerdy several years ago.
I say go for it. I also think Graham is a better spelling... the only place I've seen it Graeme is on 24.
I knew a cool Graham and one of my coolest friends just named her son Graham. ?I think it is a great name.
Not to be rude, but maybe the fact that the older generation doesn't like it is kind of a good sign??
We are naming DS #2 Graham. I also really like Liam but won't use it for the same reason. I've only known one Graham and he was cool, but he was British. I also know an 8-year-old with that name, but I can't tell if an 8-year-old is cool any more.
I prefer the spelling Graeme but we will probably go with Graham because it's less hassle.
Graeme is a real, valid spelling of Graham, used more in Ireland and the UK. Just because you don't know it doesn't mean it is misspelled.
Not dorky at all!
Graham is our current lead for a boys name. I knew a Graham in college and he was a really nice guy. For us, we like it because it's different enough with out being too out there or trendy. But at the same time I don't think there will be 3 other Graham's in his class. I also think it sounds very refined and sophisticated. It's a name that our son can really grow into.
I really HTH! Don't listen to your parents! It's a great name!

lol that is exactly what i thought!
I also prefer Graeme...the original spelling.
As I said, I also prefer Graeme, but I don't think it's necessarily the ORIGINAL spelling. I think it may have been Graham, and in England/Scotland they changed it to Graeme.
We are still trying to decide how to spell it, like I said...
Gender: Masculine
Usage: Scottish, English
Pronounced: GRAY-?m, GRAM [key]

Graeme is the traditional spelling, it is a Scottish name and my husband is Scottish so I did not make up the spelling.

I don't know any Grahams, but maybe your kid can be the coolest one ever! Just please, don't spell it Graeme... In my head, I just pronounce it like a cross between "grime" & "game." JMO.
::Edit:: After reading the responses above to the alternate spelling, I just want to add in that I'm not trying to pick on the spelling. I just think to the average American person who does not have or know about Scottish heritage, the name will be mispronounced.
