Stroller, how to get around, with newborn and 12month old?

Hi Everyone,

We found out last week that we are expecting again. Just wondering if anyone could recommend a stroller that would accomodate a newborn and 12 month old?  We have a Chicco carseat and I was hearing some things about a Chicco double stroller.  Does anyone know what kind it would be (carseat adaptable, newborn appropriate, etc)?  Also, is there a better way for getting around with a newborn and 12 month old?  I was thinking about baby wearing and just an umbrella stroller.  Any advice would be great! Thanks!

  • I have a Phil & Ted's.

Best purchase I ever made.  I wear DD3 a lot now, but it's not practical all the time.  If the older one has a dr appt, for example, and you need to be able to hold them on your lap.

But, really, you haven't lived until you've had to change a kicking, thrashing, pissed off toddler in a mall bathroom with a newborn strapped to your chest!

The P&T doesn't take a car seat, but I was fine with that.  I love that it's so versatile and I also love that it can be a single, so, in the off chance I only have 1 with me, I don't have to have a bunch of strollers.

    I'd be lost without it.

I have the Phil and Ted and it does take the Graco Snugride with the Toddler in the Jump Seat. You get the bar (or the sport which I have comes with the carseat adapt.) and put the front seat in the upright position. It fits perfectly and with the sun hood and the carseat hood it totaly covers the baby.

Both kids love the jump seat. I used it with J in the Ergo and C in the jumpseat and my BFFs 3 year old in the front all week at the beach. It did a fab job them as well.

It is easy to use, not heavy, can be a single stroller in a second. If you get the bags then you no longer need a diaper bag. I use one bag for each kid.

The one item I am still totally in love with and my fav baby purchase.

  • Ah...I have a Chicco carseat.  I know I saw some adapter kit for carseats, but mine wasn't on the list, so I never thought to see if it worked with the P&T.

I don't think I saw bags....what bags??  If I could eliminate my diaper bag, I'd be all over that!

  • My little ones are 12 months apart and we use the graco duoglider
  • My DD1 was almost 13 months when DD2 was born :) This will be the second time today that I have C&P this reply lol.

I posted this in a thread a lil further up.

:::This is not your question but I would rec the Kolcraft Contours options. It is wonderful! I asked all over the boards about doubles and got this rec more often than anything else. I can say that I am more than happy!

FWIW, I was in love with my single Graco Quattro until I got the Kolcraft. I was seriously looking the the double because I liked the single so much! After quite a few recs I looked at the Kolcraft and got to test it with 2 one year olds in it, then with my 1 year old and my 6 year old (not that he would be using it, but I wanted it to be full to see how it drove). It is tons easier to steer and control than the Graco and I love all the options. JMO of course :)
