3rd Trimester

Yes, annoying co-irker, I'm sure you know more

than my doctor. Pre-pregnancy and up until about a month ago it was always 120/60ish.  About a month ago I called my doctor's office because I was just not feeling right and they had me come in.  My bp was 145/95.  Dr. did lab work and had me do the 24 hour urine collection (fun stuff) and everything came back okay from that, but my b/p was still high so he has had me come back in once a week or so to have it checked (I work 3 floors up from his office so that's no big deal). He also recommended that I get a monitor to check it daily at home and told me to call him if the top number got above 150 or the bottom number got above 100.

Yesterday evening it was 156/95. The doctor's office was closed so I put my feet up and took it easy the rest of the evening and checked it a few times to make sure it didn't get any higher.  This morning it was down to 136/76, but I brought my monitor into work so I could check it later on today and call (during office hours) if it went back up.   Sure enough it is now 156/86 and I am feeling light headed and generally crappy again so I called my doctor to see if he thought it was high enough that I needed to be seen.

No sooner had I hung up the phone than my "favorite" co-irker comes around the corner of the cubicle on a rant about how I am just going to have to get used to it and her sister's blood pressure is higher than that all the time. She wanted to know what I thought they were going to do for me...I have no idea, that's why I called them, and told me that unless they were going to give me a pill to fix it I needed to just stop calling them because I couldn't miss that much work. Ummm, I've missed exactly 1 day so far this pregnancy and it was the day I had to pee in a jug for 24 hours...didn't think she would want that in the fridge next to her tuna salad! She actually had the nerve to tell me it is just high because of the stress of already having 3 children and that I just needed to ask my doctor for a nerve pill because just being pregnant can't change your blood pressure.  Don't know why I even bothered to call my doctor when I've got such a wealth of knowledge sitting 5 feet away from me!Confused

  • Yeah, just tell her to go to preeclampsia.org and read the stories there.

I'm sure the high BP and dizziness means nothing... (insert MAJOR sarcasm here).

I am glad you are calling and being proactive.  It can turn serious fast (see signature).

Good luck dealing with that hot mess, and I hope the rest of your pregnancy is smooth sailing!

What a dumbass. I'm sorry your coworker is annoying. I hope your BP goes down soon!

  • You might actually beat me in an "annoying coirker" contest.

Some people really do need to STFU- I'm sorry you are dealing with all of this. I hope you are feeling better soon. pre-eclampsia.org has some forums where you can talk to others who have been there.
