Re: Immune testing

  • I have had it done.  I am a SIRM patient, and they absolutely believe in it.  A lot of clinics don't.  You can check out their website for more info.  Basically, there are allo-immune causes of IF and auto-immune.  We have not done allo-immune (where you and your DH have compatibility issues).  But, I have some auto-immune things.  I tested borderline high for Natural Killer cells )can keep an embryo from implanting) and also one positive anti-phospholipid antibody.  I have had 4 c/p's, so even if some feel it's hokey, i'm willing to test/treat for anything at this point.  We are doing IVF in November, and I'll be adding Lovenox for the APA and Intralipids for the NK cells.

If your RE is encouraging it, I would definitely do it.

  • we had to get some immunological tests done before we could our LIT treatment.  i agree with pp, if your dr. recommends it, you should get it done.

  • I had it done and I'm thankful I did.  Even though I've had chickenpox and am current on boosters and immunities, I am not immune to Chickenpox.  I have to have the booster before I start IVF b/c if I get it during pregnancy it could be devastating to the baby and even end in fetal death.  Not willing to risk that.

Its just a couple viles and it can give you piece of mind.

  • I believe that the more testing they can do to try and figuring what might be causing IF the better.  My last RE wouldn't do it...I'll be interested to hear my new RE's thoughts on it...hoping she's a little more open minded.  I agree with PP, if your RE is offering it, go for it.  The way I see it, it can only help.
