Okay, So I just started using OPK's this month. I am up to CD 15 with no positive results (well, tested up to CD 14, will be testing CD 15 tonight). I am starting to get concerned with the timing of ovulation. I did some research, and from what I have read, having a LP shorter than 10 or 11 days is definitely not a good thing. I have a regular 28 day cycle, so if I am ovulating later than CD 18, do I have a cause for concern? One site I read said this will hinder getting pregnant, but clearly I can do that*. But others said this affects implantation which I am guessing would then cause a MC...is that right?
*Note:I have been pregnant twice before, one resulted in an 8 wk MC and the other was a chemical pregnancy.
So basically...does having a short LP mean MC are easier to come by? Or just make it harder to actually get pregnant?

Unexplained Infertility
After two Clomid cycles, three injectable IUI cycles, two IVFs, two miscarriages, and one lap surgery, IVF #2 has brought us our little boy!
TTC #2
After months of being postponed or cancelled, FET #1.3 (Natural FET) brought us twin girls!
2 years, 2 surgeries, 2 clomid fails, 2 IUIs, 1 loss, IVF #1 - 10/25/10 = BFP!, DS is now 3.5yrs!
TTC #2 - 6/12 surgery #3, FET #1 & 1.2 = BFN, 12/2012 FET #2 = BFP! DD is 1.5 yrs!
Surprise! 12/16/14 BFP, loss #2 12/31/14
I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929
a short LP doesn't give the embryo enough time to implant, so usually you don't have implantation at all. Not sure if c/ps are related to short LPs though.
If this is your first month using OPKs, I wouldn't be concerned just yet that you have a short LP. You may find that your cycle is longer this month b/c you are Oing late.

I have a short LP and have had one c/p and one m/c. Per all of the info that I have received from my own literature searches in medical journals ( I am a doctor, but not OBGYN) and from my OBGYN and RE short LP is very controversial. No one is certain that it is a hindrance to pregnancy because some woman have had children with short LP. However, there is some data to support that it affects implantation...that can cause inability to get pregnant, a chemical pregnancy due to poor implantatioin and early first trimester m/c (mine was 7w3d) due to inadequate implantation. Frankly I am of the opinion that the crappy placenta I had with my DD and thus my preterm birth of her and pregnancy-induced hypertension was a result of my short LP. My RE and OBGYN say "it's possible". My LP has gotten shorter over the years too. (11 days with my DD and now is 9 if I am not taking IF drugs or progesterone).
In summary, it is anyone's guess whether short LP is a problem or not. Most RE will put you on progesterone if you are unsuccessful without it after a few cycles.
