Infertility

I've decided to follow the lead

of 90% of the women who come into my clinic. I'm going to stop working, get on medicaid, smoke 10 packs of cigs a day and then maybe, just maybe, I can get a sticky BFP. And maybe I'll throw some crack on top of all of this! (I'm not trying to offend anyone, this is just seriously the type of patients that I see on a daily basis)

I'm tired of this IF rollercoaster and it pisses me off beyond belief how all of us would give our left leg to do anything to have a child. Yet, women like this get pregnant every day. Angry

  • I'm sorry you have to deal with people like that every day. I went to a party over the summer where there was a child there who was 2 years old, but was only as big as an infant, with all of the capabilities of an infant. The child's mother had the freakin' nerve to say OUT LOUD, "The police said it was fetal alchol syndrome, but I don't think so. I didn't drink EVERY day." I just wanted to slap her.

  • Yeah, that would drive me nuts too. :(

I would have slapped her too.

I'm just reminded on a daily basis about how unfair it truly is. You do things right and it honestly doesn't seem to get us anywhere. I'm just cranky today...

  • My niece who is only 16 is preggers (20 weeks along) and has yet to find a docotor to go to...   So yes I totally get were your coming from and its got to be 10x's harder seeing these things on a daily basis.

  • I know how you feel.  I'm a psychiatric social worker; I see these folks every day too.  I have a patient who is about to become a grandmother at age 32.  I'll be thrilled if I'm a mother by 32 (only a year & a half away!).

  • To the woman with the FAS child, you are a cuntburger!  MissRed75, you can tell her I said so!  Oh and while you're at it, punch her in the ovaries for me. Angry

I am so sorry you have to see that every day sweetie.  I know how you feel.  It seems like the pg announcements I hear IRL are from single, smoking, living w/ their parents, partying, no education or career type girls (women would be too grown up of a word) and I want to smack them.  :::HUGS::: for what you're going through!

  • I'm really sorry :(  I used to be a social worker, investigating child abuse and neglect for the state, I did that for 5 years before I burned out. So I know how you feel!  In addition to the things you mentioned don't forgot the fake nails and big screen tv's that they all seem to have, but don't have money for food for their kids
  • Honestly, I don't know how I would be able to deal with it if I were you. It's hard enough working with pg ladies who you know are going to be great parents. I'm so sorry you have to deal with that every day. It's so not fair. FUIF!

I literally turned around on my heel and walked away so I wouldn't go nuts on her.

  • Ohhh, not only that, but the designer clothes and Coach handbags that they carry around.

One day, I had a horrible, horrible situation standing in front of me and when she sat down, I looked up at the ceiling and thought to myself.. Really? These are the women that get to have baby's and why is this fcking joke on me? UGH!!

  • I hear you.  My coworker and I joke all of the time that crack seems to be a fertility drug!!   We'll never understand the "why" of those women having baby after baby and us working forever at it!

TTC #1 since 12/07 SA 9/08=borderline normal HSG 1/09 found R tube blocked Multiple IUIs both with oral and injectible drugs from 2/09-2/11 Started domestic adoption process in 5/10, homestudy complete 9/10 Failed adoption after home with baby for 2 weeks 11/10 Blessed through the miracle of private adoption with a son, born 6/6/11 (his grandma's bday) 7lbs 9oz 20.5 inches long! • I am a social worker also so that is all I see day in and day out, with the addition of nice cars, fake nails and blackberrys.  This is what you need to tell yourself...

No matter how bad our situations may seem on any given day YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE THEM.  Yes of course you want a healthy baby, but would you trade your life for theirs. You do not want to be a crack head with no life, no job, no love of your life.  All they have is getting pregnant and that is all their kids will have.  Its a vicious cycle and no one benefits from it. You will have more happiness in your life no matter what happens then they ever will.   This job really got to me for a while until this really sunk in.

I'm going to keep telling myself that! I put up a little saying on my computer and I've been saying it every day on my way to work - "Fly like a butterfly, sting like a bee"...

  • Crack is better than clomid I always say.  :  )

  • Sorry you have to deal with that.  I see some of those exact same people at my job too!  All on medicaid, all smokers, all with about 5 kids.  It sucks!
  • I know--its crazy and sickening isn't it?!?
  • Y'know what - I often feel this way about life in general. People who lie, scam, perform badly....they seem to have more luck at work than honest, competent, hard workers.
  • I know exactly how you feel!! I am a NICU Resp Therapist and just recently switched hospitals. I'm amazed at the number of "drug" babies this NICU has. It makes me so sad and angry to see these women  who this is there 2nd or 3rd child SW has taken away. Sometime you just wonder what type of sick joke the man up stair is playing.

A good day at work for me is one that allows me the time to sit in the rockers and console those babies.
