Daycare bottle propping....

DH picked up DS at daycare today to find him on a boppy on the floor with his bottle propped for him by another pillow on his chest!  I always thought bottle propping was a big no-no, and then to have it being done at daycare--I was shocked!  The staff said she just left him for a moment to help the other teacher with the older kid's snack, but said that DS often holds his bottle (he's 7 months, and does not hold his bottle at home).  The director said that staff do it if they're busy and it's an older baby that needs to eat.  I don't want to over-react--what would you guys think?

Re: Daycare bottle propping....

  • I don't know much about that yet, but I would say that as the parent if you are uncomfortable with it they should acknowledge that and respect that.

  • I don't have any experience, my son does not go to daycare.  But, I think you should tell them how uncomfortable you are, and if they continue, you should look for another day care.  You're the mother, you should never feel like they are not taking the best possible care of your child!
