What was AF like after IVF BFN?

Is this going to be a whopper? My cramps are pretty nasty in a regular month, let alone after having crazy a$$ hormones pumped into me and ovaries gone wild.

Was your next cycle "normal"? (Whatever that is for all of our messed up bodies, I guess.)

Special treat?  B/c of the study I'm doing, I have to keep doing PIO until Sunday and go get another b/w (and giant bruise from weekend lab lady) if I want to get the money refunded.  Oh, and go back for a physical for them to tell me I'm perfectly young and healthy.  Vomit.

I can't decide if I want to go on BCP to control the endo (maybe just for a whlie, maybe forever), or if I want to just let my body return to some normalcy.  I've been on progesterone in my LP since November.  Maybe some non hormonal time would let my body regulate a little?  Maybe BCP would do that better?

Re: What was AF like after IVF BFN?

  • Mine was always a whopper. More cramps and more bleeding, lasted a little longer as well. The next cycle my cycle was late about 5 days, common on break cycles (for me anyway)
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

  • I have gone through two failed IVF's, so I honestly know the pain you are going through. Both of my AF have been very heavy, especially this last one. AF actually came 2 days before my beta, I started spotting 3 days before, and she was terrible! My lining was so thick, so obviously, that is why...

I don't know the best answers to your other questions, but I wish you the best.

  • One week ago today I got my IVF BFN.  I immediately stopped my meds (mostly out of anger) and I got AF on Monday of this week.  I was totally expecting it to be a doozie, but it only lasted 2 1/2 days.  It was certainly heavy and the cramps were pretty bad (for me anyway), but it was over very quickly.  I don't know if that's normal or not, but that's my experience.

I just want to say again how sorry I am for your BFN.  IF totally sucks!!!

  • Mine were a lot worse than normal.  However, I don't have endo so I can't really compare.  I don't get my period without "forced ovulation" or bcps so I never had a 'regular cycle.'

  • I guess the good thing is I can take as much damn Advil as I want.... that should help with cramps and hopefully I won't need the vicodin.
  • I tend to have light AFs with very little cramps, my first AF after the IVF BFN was only a little heavier and crampier than normal.  I hope that yours isnt too bad.

Im so sorry about your BFN :(
  • Mine was heavier and longer than normal but I think the cramping was the same
  • Longer and more painful.  It sucked.  I think it sucked more because it was a reminder that I was definitely not pregnant.  Boo!
