I have to say that yesterday I did get caught in the throws of sarcasm in posts, and wasn't quite sure how to respond or react, so I ended up ignoring it. I was a little pissed at first (likely hormones), but I am totally over it. all of the back and forth today has been totally entertaining. I have my first u/s today and am doing everything I can to not think about it and pass the time. So, I guess I can say, Thanks for entertaining me!!
any by the way, popcorn sounds awesome right now!!!
I feel like some of us have a different perspective on this whole thing. Some of us came here from other boards (on thebump or thenest) and you get used to the snark and sarcasm. It's acceptable, if not necessary, to learn how to have a sense of humor and and not take things so personally.
The ones who are upset seem to be posters who are new to this whole message board experience. I roll my eyes at them, but they'll either learn how to have some fun, or they'll get upset, stomp their feet and leave. They'll also learn that posts complaining about it won't change anything.
And so the cycle of the boards continues. I'll be glad to get to 2nd tri.
---
My advice to those who are upset with the "tone" of the board: If there's a response or a poster that you don't like in a thread, just ignore it. If you respond, you're just sucking yourself into an argument. If you think you can handle it, respond with something witty of your own. Try not to take everything so seriously.

I agree with absolutely every you said. I laugh a bit when people get outraged on this board. And new people in particular. It is indeed, the cycle of the boards
I am not taking sides, just enjoying the entertainment.
My two cents FWIW:
I don't think this board has changed since I was last on here. Same Sh!t, different day.
Just wanted to say hi from a fellow central IL'er:o)
And I agree w/all that's been said. I definitely agree that people who weren't previous knotties, nesties, etc just don't "get it" yet. My guess though is they've never posted anywhere, ever. The knot, nest, and bump are not exactly unique in tone, attitude, atmosphere when compared to other chat sites...or at least not the place I go/have been.

I too am a U of I alum. Met DH while here for grad school (I'm originally from Buffalo) and got sucked in, LOL. It wouldn't be my first pick of places to live but it's ok and a good place for raising a family. We actually moved to St. Joseph recently but Champaign is more recognizable, so I just left that alone since we're still in the same area.

That would be me, lol. Never have done the whole message board thing before. I got my a$$ chewed out a few times when I first started posting, but I learned my lesson pretty quickly and I'm starting to catch on. #1 is being much more careful not to get dramatic about everything (even though that's kind of how I am in person). Drama works great on a blog, but I've learned that it just doesn't go over well at all in here.

I thought it would be funny to keep quoting these quotes. ?lol.
?I actually agree with most of you on this post. ?I am a newbie and have never really had any experience with message boards, so I'm kind of shocked to see the immaturity of some of these people, and I hate to see women falling into the demeaning female stereotypes of being snarky and competitive, but overall, people should have a sense of humor and not take these people seriously.

Continuing the great string 'o quotes!
My SIL lives in Mahomet and we almost moved there ourselves and I have several friends that live or work there. I was in the top 3 of the places we were considering moving to when we were looking for our new house. Their property taxes are ridiculous though, LOL.

I've been to Chicago before. That's in IL.
As far as my two cents on the issue: This same sort of thing happens on every board nearly every day. People use sarcasm/snark/whatever, other people get their panties in a bunch. I say grow the F up and put your MOMMY panties on and deal with it. I mean seriously, if you don't like something someone said, don't engage in a conversation with them. It's that simple!

Re: ::grabs a bowl of popcorn::
I agree with your two cents
This board hasn't changed, you are completely correct. Some people have a sense of humor, some don't. Some take things very seriously, some don't.
At the end of the day, it's a public message board. People get very worked up sometimes though
Life is too short not to laugh a bit I think. if I had cried my way through IF constantly I would have been very sad indeed.

Cathy - everytime I read your posts I imagine Tina Fey saying it. Hilarious.
Hehe. A couple of people have said that. I do love her
