  He's all over the place again promoting a new album that just came out this week. He was on the Conan show last night.

  I think his music is just ok but him going that route with his upbringing is what is interesting to me.

  Exactly, that's why I find him so darned interesting. From a hippy stoner Phish fan to Hasidic Judaism- it's really an unexpected route, isn't it?

  i saw him perform twice...a concert hall in brooklyn and last month in central park. he is amazing! i think my brother has a pic up on facebook of us taken with him after the concert.

  his story is quite fascinating but he is widely accepted in the religion b/c 1) his music focuses on spreading his vision and 2) he obtained an ok (approval) from the high rabbi. he knew he had this gift and and couldn't contain it. the rabbi agreed and then came matis on the stage.

  i think he is touring again to promote the new album. if they're going to be in your area, i recommend getting those tix.
