Infertility

What are your TTTC distractions?

Since I'm on a break, I've done lots of things to distract myself from thinking about IF. Of course, I still think about it daily, but outwardly I'm doing other things. Some of the things on my plate include working out more and running some races this fall. We are also taking a vacation in Sept.

So what do you do to take your mind off of it?

  • You'll laugh when you read what I did on my long break... I took up motorcyle riding... Yeap I took the Riders Edge course at Harley Davidson and went got my license.  I also bought a motorcyle - 2001 Buell Blast. This is what is keeping me sane and if the treatments don't work over the winter and when spring rolls around and I'm not pg I have my motorcyle to work on and ride.

Golf when I can... we went twice this week. I also watch movies and read. And now I have school to keep me busy, although it may not be very good at that since the teacher I am placed with (it is my last semester of my post-bacc, so the student teaching portion) is pregnant.

  • I accumulate animals instead.  I have 7 hens and 8 roosters.  I spoil them terribly.  I am looking into getting goats and a cow or two.  I have to mother something.  The only downside is when it comes time to "process" the little critter that I've been mothering for months.  Not looking forward to that.  Hey though, we're a working farm and every animal has a job to do.  The girls give us eggs (or will soon any day now) and most of the boys are for the table.  I just take comfort in knowing they have been enjoying the most awesome life a chicken could have and that they will be treated humanely to the end.  All that has to do with that takes my mind temporarily of TTTC.
  • We have been on a break for almost a yr.  It has been hard and I still think about IF daily but some of the things that helped me are:

    1. working on our house (painting, re-finished our basement)

    2. spending more time with friends and more time with DH

    3. trips even if they were day trips

    4. read a lot of different books

    5. I am pretty crafty so I got into that stuff a little more

    6. I also stepped away from the board for awhile.  I mostly lurked and posted here and there.  Now, we are gearing up to start again so I am back to the board

  • cheap weekend getaway, reading, watching Trueblood, Wii Sims, going to movie nights (comedies only usually)-when it's cheap and you get free popcorn!

  • Some distractions lately have been travel, reading, and FarmTown on FB. I've also signed up for a 10K, now I just need to start training!

  • Stay as busy as possible, keep down time to a minimum.  Get out of the house all the time. Just try and make the days go by as quickly as possible.
