s/o: Were your parents "trendy"

I just went on the site that was posted below

https://www.babynamewizard.com/voyager

and i must admit my mom fell in the trendy category..lol.  I was born in 79 and Stacey ranked at it's highest peak (47) in the 1970s.

Just checked out my middle name, LaToya, my dad picked that one and he was on the verge of a trend (in the 70s it was 235 and by the 80s it was 98)

Gotta love em! :-)

Re: s/o: Were your parents "trendy"

  • No, they were ahead of the trend and named me Kira. I like it a lot and I don't even mind that it's become more popular now since it's not in my age group.

  • Yup...Crystal born in 1981.  Do you know any Crystal's younger than about 25 or older than 35?  Nope...that's because we were all cursed with this name in the late 70's and early 80's.

  • Well, it says my name was 17th, but  I grew up not knowing more than 1 or 2 Elizabeth's that were close to my age.
  • Semi-trendy. Megan became super popular in the mid to late 80's. There were 6 Megans in my pledge class!

  • Apparently, my parents were "trendy". Kristin was #43 in the 80s! That's a far cry from the #883 it is today!
  • I think so.  Lindsay was pretty dang popular in the 80's.

    Lindsay - 44th

    Lindsey - 42nd

That's funny.  My sister's name is Kristin, and it was ranked 43, and my name was ranked 44.  Hehe.

  • Not at all, at the time.  I am named Emma and my brother is Ethan.  When I was little, I used to hate my name because it was an "old lady" name and no one else I knew was named it.  I spent the first 15 years of my life explaining to people I just met that no, my name is not Emily.  Now, when I introduce myself to people, all I hear is "Oh, that's my neice/granddaughter/neighbor kid's name!"  Both Ethan and Emma are waaaaay more popular now.  I guess me parents were trailblazers!  Haha!

  • Shannon was 21 in 1970... but by the time I was born it was down to 200 something... So, I guess mom was behind the curve.

Funny enough, my mom told me she "decided" on my name years before she even met my dad - so I bet she fell in love when it was popular and then saved it until I was born.

  • Kind of! My twin sister is Amanda, #3 on the list for our year. I'm Jaclynn, which isn't a common spelling. But Jacqueline was #185

  • My name is Emily, and has been pretty consistently popular over the years, although the last five have been insanely popular.  Supposedly it was #25 during the 80's (when I was born) but I barely knew any other Emily's growing up.  The most popular names I remember growing up were Michelle, Jennifer, Jessia, Kelly, etc.
    Sadie is not impressed.

  • I'm Rachel. I love my name and it's a classic Biblical name.?
  • Yes, I'm a Heather born in the '80s but I didn't even know Heather was that trendy (aside from the movie) because I never had another Heather in my class.
