~~ZERO SPERM / AZOOSPERMIA CHECK IN~~
This is a place for any of you who are experiencing the world of azoospermia. Whether you were recently diagnosed and are trying to make sense of it all, or you have started preparing for IVF or IUI, or have decided instead to move on to adoption. Please join in the group by posting! Check in is on Thursdays.
Learning that the chances of having a biological child with your husband are slim to none is not easy, and is, frankly, devastating news. This check in is a place where we can share how we are coping (or not) with our new realities, provide information we've learned through investigating our options, adjusting our lifelong dreams and plans, and dealing with the situation.
I'd like to extend an invitation to those who have been fortunate enough to experience pregnancy, childbirth, and/or adoption. Ultimately, all of us desire to create a family. The experiences and insight of those who have reached that goal will be quite helpful to those of us on that road.

Questions of the Week:
How do you cope with being around coworkers/friends who are pregnant?
On a lighter note, what's your favorite BBQ type dish?
Re: ~~Zero Sperm - Azoospermia Check In~~
I'm at 6dp b2b D-IUI. Jees, what I would give to have absolutely no idea what that means!
I'm trying not to over analyze everything, and so far so good! Time is going by terribly slowly. I've been thinking of how many rounds of IUI's I'm willing to go through in order for my dh and I to try to create a family. I'm wondering what I will do with my life if having children is not in the cards for us. I'm basically preparing myself for the worst. But at the same time, hoping for the best. This is such a total mind fvck...
Anyhoo....
Question of the week:
How do you cope with being around coworkers/friends who are pregnant?
Avoidance. Plain and simple. I am THAT person... I'll engage in conversation, but generally don't bring it up. Wish I didn't need to do that, but then my envy starts to show. What's your favorite BBQ type food
There's a place close by w/the best wings. And I'm not a wing person. But I could eat those all day!
Also, corn on the cob, watermelon, macaroni salad w/tuna and olives, baked beans. I'm STARVING!
H's testicular biopsy is scheduled for 9/17 and they said it would all take under an hour. We are both very anxious to get it over with so that we can find out the results. I can't believe how many of my prayers now center around sperm, it's both sad and funny. I know that if the results are bad, we're going to be devastated and I'm trying to not get my hopes up too much.
QOFW:
How do you cope with being around coworkers/friends who are pregnant?
I'm not coping very well, actually. I am a mix of happiness for them and extreme sadness for us. I try not to ask them about their pregnancy and I avoid baby stores/sections like the plague. At the same time, I am in awe of how they can be pregnant and sometimes stare at their bellies in amazement, How can something so simple for the rest of the world, be so very hard for us?
On a lighter note, what's your favorite BBQ type dish?
Potato salad! yum!
suggestions for QOTW:
With the holidays right around the corner, are you anticipating them to be hard? How will you deal with the questions about TTC?
In the future, even with children of our own, do you think you will still carry these battle scars from IF? (in terms of the pain, bitterness and sadness)
Me: PCOS/Amenorrhea DH: Azoospermia due to Y Chromosome Micro Deletion IVF w/ ICSI on hold until further notice
Hope
We're anxiously awaiting our first ultrasound next Friday. Hopefully we'll see a heartbeat!
Other than that, not much is going on. It still doesn't seem real. I'm super tired--easily sleeping from 10 pm-7 am each day with a 2-hour nap sometime during the day!
1) I'm a total avoider. Just last week I finally went to see a friend who had a baby in late May. I just couldn't deal with it before now.
2) Pulled pork.....mmmmmmmmmmm
Good luck Crashi! I hope this IUI did it!
It looks like Sept is going to be a busy month - we have our TESE the same week as Amanda and her DH. Good Luck. I hope we both come out with swimmers! I am also praying my hardest they find something and at the same time trying to remember how low our chances are. I took the whole week off so I won't have to be around people if it doesn't work out.
How do you cope with being around coworkers/friends who are pregnant?
I don't. I also practice major avoidance and only go to events that I know I have to. A bunch of co-workers are returning from maternity leave in the next few weeks, so I imagine I'll be using my headphones a lot.
What's your favorite BBQ type food
i'm not too picky ;-) I'd probably say watermelon becuase we don't get to have it much.
How do you cope with being around coworkers/friends who are pregnant? Apparently not well! I have been crying like a fool all day because one of my friends had a baby. Keep in mind I have been around her for the entire pg but I have been pretending that she got really fat and there wasn't a baby. Reality hit hard today and it sucked.
So long answer short I pretend they aren't pg and got really fat until reality hits hard and the baby arrives. Not very healthy if I do say so myself.
On a lighter note, what's your favorite BBQ type dish? I love BBQ'd tri tip.

Ha! Yellow Daisy! I like that coping mechanism!
Ditto ! I am going to have to try that! :-D
Update: DH's PESA was a success and test thaw a success, swimmers found yay. and alive after test thaw. My IVF cycle is not going as well. While I had 18 follicles initially only about 8 of them have grown, my lead follicle is at 15 after 8 days of Stims. They are estimating only 5 eggs at retrieval and of course not all will be mature or fertilize with ICSI and not all will survive. They said we could end up with no embryos at transfer. So I am waiting to hear from the RE if he is going to cancel the cycle. The nurse said I was not at all expecting that at your age, I am 32 and this is the first time I have felt old. After 20 days of shots, Long Lupron protocol, this is overwhelming and devastating. If this goes forward they are guessing I will trigger on Sunday with ER on Tuesday and then if there are embies a 3 day transfer not the 5 day transfer they had planned. Thank you for listening and my best to all of you, positives all around
QOTW: I try and be happy for others and keep positive that some day my DH and I will be blessed with children. It is hard some days especially like today.
I love love BBQ, probably BBQ chicken is my favorite
Update on me: I got my BFP after 4 rounds of IUI. I am cautiously waiting Beta #3 because I have a slow rising beta that did not quite double in 70 hours. UGH!
How do you cope with being around coworkers/friends who are pregnant?
It honestly depends on who it is and how close I am. Some of my friends I am perfectly fine with and others I am not. So it depends. But I hated hearing pregnancy announcements and I still cringe when I hear one and the couple was not even trying. Sigh
On a lighter note, what's your favorite BBQ type dish?
I love Potato Salad and cucumber salad. So good.
