I had a failed IVF with PGD (didn't get pg; this pg was on metformin only).
Because of my balanced translocation, my drs have always talked about CVS or amnio. I can't say they "recommended" it exactly; I was always up front that it wasn't something I was comfortable with.
In my opinion/experience, how much they recommend it may have to do with how likely the abnormality would be to show up on other screening (u/s or bloodwork), and how knowing about it might change how they monitor the pg or what happens at delivery (like if you need to be at a specialty hospital).
In the end, the CVS/amnio is a pretty personal decision due to the risk of the procedure and what you might do with the information. I bet your drs will offer you the testing but it will be your decision. Good luck
