Infertility

Burned by a heating pad. . .

I'm on day 6 of stimms and am SO uncomfortable.. my ovaries feel like softballs... lots of pressure, pain, discomfort.. you name it! I told my RE and he said it's going to get worse before it gets better.. AWESOME.. well the only thing that has helped is a heating pad and tylenol every 4 hours... I bought the heating pad that sticks to your skin... I had it on all day yesterday no problem.. well today it was bothering me.. so I went to the bathroom to take a peek and I have a huge blister.. I guess it burned my skin today :-( it's all raw.... so much for that idea!! just be careful with them if you use them....

  • I was just going to post something similar.  I am on Stim Day 7 and feeling bloated and tired and nauseous have not taken anything though.  I put a warm washcloth over the injection site each morning and evening and that helps.  The RE's nurse yesterday said the same thing to me, it will get much worse, ha that was comforting.  I guess thinking positive and looking forward to ER is what we have to cling to right now.  Let's hope these symptoms continue after ET meaning that we are pregnant, I will gladly welcome them then!  Wishing you the best and hope you feel better.

  • The directions on heating pads tell you not to use them for more than a few hours and to check your skin occasionally. They had a big disclaimer on mine......

Try some burn cream and/or triple-A ointment. Hope you feel better soon.

  • I use those when I'm cramping during AF... the old ones used to work fine but since they've redone them they are super-hot!  It's more than I can stand, so I stick it on the outside of my underwear... it helps to diffuse the heat a bit so it's not directly on my skin.  HTH!

  • oh no! Your poor thing! Be careful. Can you put some medical tape or a gauze pad under the heating pad to protect your skin? Hope you feel better soon...

  • Ouch. Instead of heating pads you should try rice bags. I guess the ones you stick on is a little different. But if you still feel like you need something rice bags are wonderful, you can make one with a big white sock and rice, then just heat in the microwave. I heard they make cherry pit bags that are better.
