What's yours like? Totally random and not really important, but I'm just curious.
The couples in the waiting room at my RE sit with their heads down and pretty much stay that way until they're called into the back. I do notice that when someone comes out into the lobby from the back rooms everyone lifts their head to see them and then quickly puts it down again. It makes me giggle a little...it's all so uniform, like it's a code or something.
I was so embarrassed to be there at first but then I started to realize we're all in the same boat. Sometimes I just want say "so this sucks" with the person next to me and start a conversation. I know how lucky I was to find a community like this to ask ?s and share stories and can't help but think how nice it would be to have a piece of that IRL, too.
Re: waiting room at RE..
I always feel bad for the guys that are in there for SA...they always look so embarassed that everyone knows what they are going to go do when they get called
I can't remember which place you go? Magee? (That's where I go)
DH and I joke about this.
It is like NO ONE talks.
It is even worse down at NYU's waiting room for retrievals and transfers. At least my RE has a TV on. At NYU, it is DEAD silence.
That sounds like my RE's waiting room! I've said hi to a few women who came in after me and sat across from me. I normally don't have to wait very long in the waiting room which is nice.
Do you have a RESOLVE group in your area? Maybe you could also see if your RE has a support group. My RE has signs throughout the office about support group(s).
I always go as early as possible in the morning, so it's usually just a few ladies, if that and the wait has only ever been just a few minutes...not really enough time to start a conversation with someone.
I think it's just natural to check out where the "noise" is coming from, when people walk in/out of the office and it happens in any type of waiting area.
Mine is very nice, sort of split into two sections, with the open doorway to the backrooms between. I haven't been in there when a lot of people are waiting, so I haven't noticed much about other patients. I do notice that when the nurses/doctors go past the doorway, they do a visual sweep of the room....almost as though checking to see what mental/emotional state their patients are in before they see them.
I do find it irritating that most of the magazines are parenting related. While this whole ordeal is obviously to become one, I don't need that reminder that I'm not one yet or even really on my way to becoming one. I'd rather read the latest gossip magazine or something.
2 years, 2 surgeries, 2 clomid fails, 2 IUIs, 1 loss, IVF #1 - 10/25/10 = BFP!, DS is now 3.5yrs!

Surprise! 12/16/14 BFP, loss #2 12/31/14
I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929
I ran into a SA guy today who was so flushed. They called his name and he practically ran in. Poor guy!
I go to RHS.
Usually I get in pretty quick and there really isn't too many people in the waiting room, but this past Sunday there were 7 couples waiting to go in and no one said a word. It was totally uncomfortable, especially since my DH did not go with me. I completely wanted to start a conversation and even made a comment like "wow, I have never seen so many people here before" and no one really responded. Talking over. It was strange but I am glad it is not only my RE's office.
Unexplained Infertility
After two Clomid cycles, three injectable IUI cycles, two IVFs, two miscarriages, and one lap surgery, IVF #2 has brought us our little boy!
TTC #2
After months of being postponed or cancelled, FET #1.3 (Natural FET) brought us twin girls!
OMG, I noticed that too. Why do they do that? I sat down the other day and my only choice was Parent magazine.
I feel the same exact way.
"Smudge's Story - How to Grow a Dandelion" will return soon!

"If dandelions were hard to grow, they would be most welcome on any lawn."
Mine has anything EXCEPT parenting magazines....

It is dead silence at ours too! Everyone is too busy doing something else or anything else other than looking around at each other.
Married and it feels so good!
I do that too! and of course I'm always hoping to see you there.
when is your next appt?
My first RE, the place was very 80ish. Pink carpet and flowers on the wall. And he didn't see many people, so it was rare to have overlap. No huge wait. When people were in there no one really spoke.
I have only been to the new place twice. They have 3 REs and it was packed both times. One day was when I sat there for 3 hours for my insulin test. It's very spacious and very nicely decorated. They have free tea and coffee and water, and a ton of magazines. No one really talks, they just wait for their names to be called.
TTC since 2007
6 IUIs, 3 IVFs, and 2 m/c :< PCOS, Blood Clotting Disorder & MFI
IVF #2 Aug 2011 is a BFN:<
IVF #3 March 2012 is a BFN
Not sure what to do now. Sad and lost.
Funny...your description sounds just like upmc
wow that really sucks. Neither one of my REs had any kind of parents magazines. Just all current ones like People and the Women's mags. My new RE has 2-3 copies of some mags so there is more to go around. I thought that was cool.
