WWYD: leaving LOs w/ "strangers" (to them)

Two good friends of ours want to come over tomorrow to watch the girls so DH and I can spend some time together. They both work in daycare/kindergarden and are super good with kids. However, the babies don't know them and I'm really hesitant of leaving them. We'd only be gone for 45-60 minutes (we'd go for a walk or grab some coffee) while the girls are napping ... but I hate the idea of them waking up and nobody being around that they know. They are 3.5 months actual and 7 weeks corrected. WWYD? Be honest.

    The babies probably won't really know that they don't know them, but yeah, like pp said, I would probably let them meet beforehand if possible.

    I used to babysit/nanny a lot - so from that angle I'm gonna agree with Fred.

    It always worked better if I showed up while they were awake the first time. Even if the babysitters get there and hang out with you and the babies for 10 or 15 and then you put the babies down for a nap and leave. At least there's some face/voice recognition.

    Also - it'll be good for them to know that even if you guys have to leave, there's someone to take care of them. And good for you guys, too.

    I would go too, and like fred said, make sure they are meet them awake before you leave.

    Or, if you are fairly sure they will sleep the whole time, just stick close to the house and you can be home within 5 minutes of them waking up.

    I would have them awake too when they got there, then put them down. But I think the most important thing is to remain calm and comfortable so that they don't pick up on your anxiety and get freaked out.

    Why not have your friends come over while they're awake first so that they can hold them while you're still home?  Then you can leave after they go down for their nap.
