i had an unexpected u/s at 30wks and it showed baby was measuring big, 10 days bigger. so my dr has planned on doing another at 36wks to see if he still is, today she looked at the u/s papers from the 30wk one and his head was measuring 34 wks at it..4wks ahead...so i'm now getting my u/s next wed at 34wks to see and if he is still big inducing at 37wks instead of 38(always induced with kids thats why). everything looked ok at all u/s and she didnt seem to act like something could be wrong just that he is BIG. what do you think? i know these u/s arent' always the best at accuracy too. hmmm stressed even though its just a week earlier its a different month!
Re: come in if you have had a growth u/s in 3rd tri
My son's head has consistently measured HUGE (96-98th percentile) in every ultrasound I have had in the 3rd tri. They aren't concerned because his intracranial measurements are fine. He just has a big head. And to go along with this, his femur is measuring in less than the 5th percentile. I made my perinatologist tell me over and over again that there is nothing wrong. I guess my kid will just be short with a big head.
My c-section is scheduled for 38 1/2 weeks. I didn't want to have him any earlier.
I just had one yesterday.. my baby girl is measuring 4lbs 11oz at 33 weeks...i see my doc on tues so i will get more info then... i pray she comes a little early.
do they normally order growth u/s to see if the baby is big? i am all belly and he wanted to make sure there is enough fluid and to see how she is fitting in my belly.
BFP #3 -mm/c @ 7wks, discovered at 9wks, D&C 9/28
BFP #4 5/29 EDD 2/9 - please be our rainbow
i just had one last week bc my OB said based on my fundal measurement and what she could feel of the baby i was measuring 2 weeks ahead. the u/s came back completely normal and the OB attributed it to the way the baby must have been positioned when she was feeling around and getting my fundal measurement.
FWIW, the later the u/s, the less accurate it is. i forget the exact reason (although i would think it's bc the baby is all smooshed up and it would be more difficult to measure).
Hey. I am having weekly U/S Bio physical profiles for safety reasons (Aiden's umbilical cord was short). I do think the U/S sizing can vary (pound wise) but I think the head measuring is quite accurate. They should take ALL the measurement to give you a TOTAL measurement. FOr example on Monday her head measured 32wk 4d (at 32wk) but overall meausrements were 31w 5d. 4wks ahead is quite alot different though- so I'm sure you're Dr is doing what she thinks is best for you both!!
Good luck! I am sure it'll all work out just perfect!
?
hahaha Mine is long-legged with a pea head! ?At 38 weeks, his head measured 35 and his legs measured 39! ?My OB said it is just all about genetics at this point.?
4lbs 11 oz at 33 weeks seems pretty normal weight to me compared to the info I've been given... ???
I've had two (so far, and more to come) because of "potential growth restriction" due to my history of depression.
My last growth u/s was 4 weeks ago and baby was in 61st percentile. Yesterday, baby was is in 41st percentile. Who knows?! I truly believe more than ever it is an estimate and you really don't know how fast baby grows along the way. Just because they are big one week doesn't mean they are going to keep growing at the same pace the whole time.
GL!
For the second size thread of the afternoon...
7lbs at 34 weeks. 100% giantbaby. Yup.
DH has an enormous head. That's why it took me 10 years to work up the courage to birth his child.
Honestly, I'm not stressing over it. I hear more stories of these numbers being off than being correct. My OB won't induce for a "big baby" and I wouln't let them anyway. Only time will tell.
This. My baby was almost 5LBS though.
