Ive only lived in Drexel Hill for a few years, but from what I gather, UDSD is at least average. There are definitely better SDs in Delaware County, but you will pay a lot more for houses there so it really depends what you can afford. Its better if you live in the Drexel Hill Middle School area rather than Beverly Hills MS. The township is very diverse both ethnically and socioeconomically so you can see that as good or bad. There are also MANY private schools /religious schools / montessoris nearby.
I have not heard good things. I think elementary schools are alright depending on where you are but middle and high schools are bad. We are in that SD now and plan to either move or send our kid(s) to private or catholic school.
It's a great district, and there are infinite opportunities for students in the high school. Because of the size, the school offers opportunities that others cannot. It sometimes gets a bad rep, because there are SO MANY students in the building. With almost 4,000 students, you are bound to have a few trouble-makers.
I live in this SD and my husband went all through school in it. He does not want our kids going through it and we hope to move or will send DS to catholic school. I don't think it's horrible, but I think it's way overcrowded. There are 12 elementary schools, filtering into two middle schools, into ONE high school. PM me with questions or more info. Thanks!
Re: Upper Darby SD, anyone?
The public schools realy aren't that good anymore. There test scores are low and depending on the high school - some are dangerous.
