Infertility

Are these cyst gonna keep coming back?

I never think of the good questions to ask until after I return from RE office. This cycle is off because they found a huge fluid cyst on my left side. I know I also had one in July on my right side just prior to my lap surgery.

What is going to happen once I go on Clomid?

Are these follicles that aren't releasing eggs? I was so sure I ovulated from the left side last month- timing was perfect for everything blah blah blah. Could it be that scar tissue from my endo is too think for them to 'burst' on their own?

Now it makes me just want to go right to IVF to suck the eggs out- but I don't know if that is really needed (or is it?) since we haven't tried the IUI.

Any cyst advice welcome!

Re: Are these cyst gonna keep coming back?

  • According to my RE cysts can happen after every cycle, or every other cycle, or every couple of cycles or never again.

So unfortunately there is no good answer.  I know that when they found cysts on my CD 3 u/s I had to wait two weeks to see if they went away on their own.  Which they did.

I know that some REs also put people on BCP to get rid of them.

Good luck and hopefully they go away quickly!

  • I had a cyst at my first baseline during testing and it was gone by the next month so I could start clomid.  I then got cysts after each clomid cycle and my estrogen levels were always too high to continue and I would have to take a cycle off.  They were always gone by the next cycle until my IVF.  When I went in for my mock transfer my RE saw a cyst, but it didn't go away by my Lupron eval so they aspirated it and then let me start stims.  Since I had never had an u/s before starting my IUIs, I don't know if I have always had a lot of cysts or if they are just caused by the meds.  My nurse always said they were leftover follicles, but I honestly never asked about what that meant.  I will say I got very frustrated every time I had to cancel a cycle.
It took 3 1/2 long years, but we finally got our little miracle!

  • I've had several cysts in the past, my RE says they should just go away on their own and does not recommend surgery to remove them, although I had one removed by gyn a few years back. RE says you can't cycle with a functional cyst because it will suck up all the medicine. I hope you don't get any more and you can finally cycle.

  • I've had numerous cysts and I've had some removed via surgery (they were very large though) and I was on BCPs a few times to make them go away and I'm starting BCPs again tonight to make them go away. Mine have never went away totally on their own..but everyone is different.

    Cysts suck.
