Re: Metformin users
I really hope it turns out different for you, but Metformin is no walk in the park. Most people do better if they take it with a large meal. For me, it doesn't matter. I feel like crap all the time and I'm only on 1000mg. I'll start 1500mg next cycle.
And for the poster that commented on the ER version. I was on that and just switched to the other since I did some reasearch that the ER version wasn't as effective for the treatment of PCOS. Wish I could remember the study, sorry.
I'm supposed to take it every morning before I wake up. I was doing that for about a month.
It got old - fast.
Since I don't take any insulin correcting medication (i.e. regardless of my blood sugar, my meds remain the same) I kinda slacked off. Every once in a while I'll check it after I haven't eaten for at least 8 hrs. I am IR/Pre-Diabetic but my HbA1c levels are within normal range.
I check mine because I was diagnosed with diabeties along with the PCOS, also because I have a family history of diabeties. That is why you should push for the glucose and insulin testing because it can reveal either IR or prediabeties. Almost half of PCOS ladies will end up one or the other in their lifetime, especially without treatment now.
ETA: IR is when your insulin is skewed, PD is when your glucose numbers are skewed. If anything, I would get your A1C checked every 6 months and your liver function checked as well with Metformin.

IR = Pre-Diabetes
My Internist wants me testing everyday. Are you seeing an Internist too or just your GP? If not, you should be seeing an Internist. My RE said they are better able to handle IR while TTC than a GP would be.
ditto
TI, IUIs, IVF = c/ps and BFNs
TTC since 2007
6 IUIs, 3 IVFs, and 2 m/c :< PCOS, Blood Clotting Disorder & MFI
IVF #2 Aug 2011 is a BFN:<

Not sure what to do now. Sad and lost.
