PCOS ladies please come in (saifw)

Hi ladies -

Yesterday I met with new RE and he said my androgens are slightly elevated and I have a mild case of PCOS.  I O on my own but around cd 17-20 and that is the reason why I O later.  I don't need to take anything, he just wants to monitor my O closely.

Is there anything I could do naturally to lower these levels?  Any info/links that might help?

Thanks so much.

  • Have you ever been to soulcysters.com?  I always find a ton of info on there.  I know a low carb life style is key.

My androgens are through the roof, I hate PCOS!!!!

  • I was never told anything about my androgens levels but was told by OB that I don't ovulate. I would recommend a glucose test to rule out IR, I don't have any more info, sorry.

I've actually done the 2 hour glucose thing and it came back normal so we don't think I have IR.

    Thanks

  • If you are looking for natural remedies, there is someone over on SAIF who did Traditional Chinese Medicine to treat her PCOS with great results. I forget her name, though, sorry!

  • Even though I am not IR, my RE recommended the South Beach Diet as well as exercising and trying to lose a few pounds.  (I was successful at neither... lol.)

After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!

  • Hi Worms~

I have done a ton of reading, and even mild PCOS have a Vit D (therefore CA) deficency in general.  Also our DCL levels are low. DCL can help lower andtogens. Foods with increasd DCL include Buckwheat Farinetta (has to be the farinetta)-I can PM you where you can get it online.  Chickpeas, Brown rice, etc.  I could also give you more foods if you are interested.  Also my Testosterone level was "normal" at 53, but I have read anything over 25-30 can indicate PCOS (with other associated symptoms).  I also take a B-complex.  HTH

  • i heard that spearmint tea lowers androgen levels...

that is pretty much my diagnosis except I stopped O'ing when I was 27 (except sporadically)....

  • My dr. recommended the South Beach Diet. I read the taking a b-complex is benefical to women with pcos. And I also started accupuncture and taking chiense herbs, just make sure they don't contain estrogen or progesterone. GL.
