Hi.. long time lurker coming out of the woodwork...
I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was still in college so I always knew that it would take me a little longer to get knocked up. I stopped taking BCP's last September and prayed I would get AF back.. and I did. I charted and ended up pregnant in April. I started spotting on and off at 5 weeks and begged my OB to check my progesterone.. which he refused to do. The spotting continued and eventually he sent me to a maternal fetal specialist to get an indepth ultrasound. I was around 8 weeks at the time and they found a strong heartbeat, but were concerned about the spotting so they checked my progesterone (finally!) and the level came back at 5.1. Two weeks later there was no heartbeat and I had a D&C on June 1st.
Since the D&C I've switched to an RE and he put me on metfomin. He thought that the metformin would help shorten my cycles, because I would ovulate on my own, but late in my cycle. After 2 months of no AF they gave me Provera. I called the RE and asked for clomid b/c I didn't want to wait around to maybe ovulate again. I ended up taking the clomid CD 7- 11, which the RE said was fine b/c I usually ovulate really late anyway. Now I've just finished the clomid this past Tuesday and they want me to come in for monitoring on Monday, but I'm feeling twinges on my left side now... and i'm worried that it might be a cyst? I didn't have CD3 monitoring and when I had an ultrasound before the Provera my ovaries had that classic polycystic look and I had a small cyst hanging out near one of my ovaries (althougth I think I've had that all my life). For anyone that's had a cyst do you feel twinges from it?
*Wow sorry this was a novel!
Re: New here... Intro and ?
The clomid may be causing the twinges you feel. Every clomid cycle I have had, i can def. feel my ovaries. When I had a cyst, however, I never felt a thing until I had AF - then it was super painful.
Good Luck to you on Monday
I've had tons of cysts in my life (have two right now in fact). Some were results of medicated cycles (like these) and others were just natural (the ones I've had surgery for).
I've most definitely felt twinges...and lots and lots of pain. With my big ones (the ones I had surgery for --9cm, 11cm and 12cm--) were so painful I could barely walk/move.
The two that I have now are small (4cm) and the pain isn't there so much but I can definitely feel them.
TI, IUIs, IVF = c/ps and BFNs
Welcome! I'm pretty new around here too and have PCOS as well. I agree with the other reply that on Clomid I feel lots of weird twinges cramping in my ovaries all cycle long. When I had a cyst burst it was very strong pain that only lasted for a couple of hours.
It's so hard not to overanalyze every little thing that happens when you are on this journey. I hope that the doctor can shed some light on it for you on Monday!
Thank you! I definitely don't have pain... so hopefully it's just my ovaries starting to work again. I always think of the worst case first.. hopefully that's not the case this time.
