Prometrium

My re put me on prometrium after my iui this month. I picked it up yesterday and its a smaller yellow capsule and on the box it says to take it orally but the re said to take it vaginally. Did they give me the wrong prometrium? Thanks for the help.

Hmm, I'd go back and make sure the pharmacy filled it correctly. I have peach colored round pills to take orally (it IS Prometrium) that have SV stamped on them. Maybe the only problem is they gave you the wrong instructions with it, but you got the right kind, I dunno. I haven't taken vaginal prometrium, just the kind I stated above and I've had it filled at two separate pharmacies but it looked the same each time. HTH

I have heard that the box will always say to take it orally, but the doctor usually adds something like "take as directed" and they tell you to take it vaginally.

I took Prometruim after both of my IUI's as well. They were little yellow "egg" shaped capsules. Same here, the doc said vaginally, the bottle said orally. I did what the doc told me and was fine. Just wear a pantyliner!

It is the same pill, used both ways. Just stick it up there and wear a pantyliner because it may drip. I have heard that using the Vagisil insertion tube helps get it up there if you don't want to use your fingers.
