When I was at my teach session on Monday, I brought up that I have a family history of blood clots. The doctor wants to run some bw to check my clotting and may potentially put me on Lovenox (which from my understanding is another injection!).
Yes, I take it. I have hetero FVL and hetero MTHFR (c677t). It's not too bad, but it does sting and leaves some terrible bruises. I've found that having DH do it & injecting slowly reduces the bruising. I take 40mg/day starting at 3dp trigger shot. I am hoping that my RE will try upping the dose for our next cycle.

I recently found out I have 2 clotting disorders, and my hematologist said I would be on Lovenox when/if I get pg again. (he doesn't think it's the cause of my m/c though because it was too early; the clotting factors become a problem once the placenta is formed)
I also take extra folic acid and B vitamins (prescription Folgard), omega-3 and baby aspirin. None of my docs seem to think the baby aspirin will do much but I feel better taking it.
Good luck!?

Hey May. I don't believe that and neither does my RE. There are so many tiny vessels that start forming with implantation . Clotting factors can definitely effect that crucial time from the beginning. My first three losses were very early, barely six weeks, six weeks & an early chemical. We lost the triplets @ 9 weeks, but I think that we made it further in part due to starting the lovenox at 3dp trigger. My RE really thinks that my losses are due to the clotting factors (I think so too, but think there is something else going on as well). I just wanted to throw that out there.... If you are going to do the lovenox, I would ask about starting it sooner than BFP & definitely sooner than h/b. Just my advice....

I am heterozygous for Factor II/prothrombin mutation and MTHFR. I have been taking a baby aspirin and 3 mg folic acid for that daily since that was discovered. I will actually be on those for the rest of my life, regardless of whether or not I'm TTC since those put me at risk for blood clots.
I was also positive for anti-phospholipid antibody, which means another clotting issue. I was told I would need to be on Heparin (similar to Lovenox but shorter-acting) after gestational sac is confirmed with pg.
I was told I didn't need to start Heparin any sooner by RE. I don't see a hematologist.

I don't know what the right answer is, but that's what I was told by my hematologist, MFM and REs.

I am homo MTHFR and took lovenex during IVF #2- I did get pg, but it didnt last. My old RE said no Lovenox before a positive Beta- but my new RE feels you start the Lovemox when you start stims, which is what I did. Even though i didnt stay pg- I feel that made all the difference.
Its a pretty easy shot- I was very scared of it, but it was not a big deal.
Our Journey from two to three!
3 IUI's, 2 IVF's, decided to move to foster/adopt.
12/24/2009 Baby C born, 2/1/2010 placed with us,
5/17/2011 Adoption final- we are finally a forever family!
Yes, I take it and it sucks. I have taken it daily since April1st because I have the heterozygous prothombin factor II gene mutation. Will be on it until about 30 weeks. I started it the day after egg retrieval. I am also taking baby aspirin.

I have elevated cardiolipins so I am to start lovenox WHEN I get positive beta, not before (as per my hemo) to prevent blood clots, no need to start prior.
I am also on baby aspirin daily, been on that for a few months.
My sister was on it daily during her pregnancy (she had 3 m/c before they tested her for bloodclotting). They put her on it as soon as she got a +hpt About 4 wks prior to her delivery, the dr upped her dosage to 2 shots a day and she still had to do shots daily for 6 wks after delivery. Just to be on the safe side my RE tested me as well but right now no signs (just in case I were to get pg).
