Infertility

my mom

I was explaining the whole process of IVF and PGD to my mom (who is still struggling to understand the whole concept) and she told me that in her day, they didn't have u/s- she would just meet with her doctor once a month and hope for the best. Although she did use Clomid.

Can you imagine? Its amazing to stop and think how far we've come in medicine.

Re: my mom

  • My grandmother gave birth to twins (my aunts) and didn't know she was having twins until she delivered b/c they only listened to the heartbeat with a stethoscope and the Dr had only heard one heartbeat (apparently they were facing each other or something like that)

  • It does make me really really thankful for modern medicine. I would have hated to have dealt with IF when there were very few treatment options.

  • Doesn't it ever make you think about people in you lives who dont have children? I would never ever ask but we have a couple of friends in out football club that ar in their 50's who dont have children. I often wonder if it was there choice or if the medicine just want available.
