Fewer meds for FET?

I don't know why it just hit me this morning, but I'm realizing I'm on fewer meds in preparation for my FET (which is on 9/8) than I was for my fresh cycle.

For the fresh cycle, I was on 3 Estrace a day (morning, noon and night), Vivelle and Progesterone twice a day.  Now, I'm only taking 2 Estrace a day (morning and night) and Vivelle.  I would imagine that the Progesterone will start soon, but I don't know when.

Is it normal to be on less meds for a FET?  Is that what is meant by FETs being less stress on the body?

TIA!

Re: Fewer meds for FET?

  • Yep.

I was on Estrace (3x a day, which is more than the "normal" person) and then PIO 5 days before transfer, and after transfer.  That's it.  Easy.

After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!

  • Yup, seemed a breeze after the fresh cycle!  Hopefully you ill be on "all those meds" for 12 weeks after your BFP?!!  :)

  • Ditto what Kimarino said.  I was on vivelle patches (2-4 patches every other day depending on where I was in the FET), endometrin 2x a day and then PIO once a day.  That was it once we got going.  So much easier.
  • Yes, I'm just starting my FET too and I'm on less meds, but on them for a longer period of time. The only thing so far that seems to be "worse" is having to take the PIO shots and suppositories instead of just one or the other. Good luck and glad things are going well for you.

  • My FET meds arrived on Tuesday in a little, itty-bitty box.  What a change from the IVF meds!  :)

    Best of luck to you!!
