and my blood pressure was way up (for those of you that read my post the other day you know why) so she sent me to the hospital and hooked me up to all the monitors to check for contractions.
My due date was Sept 22nd but the Dr now wants to induce and sch'd me for Wed Sept 16th. I was so surprised - but excited that I don't have as long to wait...and who knows, he might come even earlier!
Re: 3-4cm dilated at my 36 week appt!!
If it's because your BP is going up, that's one thing... if it's because you're making progress already DON'T do it! Your body will go into labor when it's ready.
I speak from personal experience. I was 2-3 cm and about 70% effaced when I was induced at 39 1/2 weeks because they thought my fluid was low (it wasn't... idiot radiologist) and it took 15 1/2 hours of pit to get me to 6cm, 100% effaced, but DD was still pretty high and was decelling with my contractions at this point and I wound up with a C/S. Everyone expected my induction to work.

Ditto!
Congrats on your progress!
Good advice
I didn't even think my Dr would induce if she didn't think it was medically necessary...she said because of my history of a large baby (DD was 9lbs 5oz) she felt comfortable taking him a week or so early.
He was already 5.5lbs several weeks ago...
I agree....Great advice!
Hey, it's your choice. I just don't want anyone to think just because they're starting to make progress that an induction will be successful, because it's not true. I'm pretty sure if DD had engaged (which never happened, she was still -1 when I was signing the consent forms) and I had gone into labor on my own, I would have delivered vaginally, and that her distress was from being bedridden for 15 1/2 hours on a massive pitocin drip.
Besides, the 21st is the best birthday ever.

Please keep in mind there is NO way to really know a baby's weight until he is here...U/S weight "estimates" can be off by 1 or more lbs. I would definitely try to keep him cooking as long as possible unless he of course comes on his own.
Good luck and glad to hear you have some progress!!
For the record, saying that to someone who wasn't happy about their C/S only makes them feel worse because they're not happy with their birth experience either way.
The fact of the matter is that you shouldn't be induced unless it's medically necessary, and the fact that she's made progress already and her growth U/S (which are often off by up to a pound in either direction) suggests he was 5 1/2 pounds a few weeks ago isn't a good reason. Yes, her DD was big, but if she delivered her vaginally that should support doing into labor on her own, not scheduling an induction a weeek before her EDD.

There are a lot of posts about negative inductions but let me just say I was induced with DD and it was not horrible. I started the pitocin at about 9AM and I was holding my healthy, happy baby girl by 4:15PM. Just wanted to give you a positive story!
Congrats on the progress and good luck with the birth of your LO!
Ha! Should not, yes. Is not... no. It happens ALL the time.
